Commodore monitor question...

I am trying to get ahold of a monitor for my Amiga 500. I had a 1084S back in the day, but can get a good deal on a 1902. I know the 1902 has a 9-pin connection on th eback...will it work fine with the appropriate cable with my A500? Any help is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the 1902 (and 1902A) were designed for the Commodore 128, not the Amiga 500. With the appropriate cable, you might be able to hook it up to the RGBI (digital) input on the monitor (the one that the 128 used for 80-column mode), but you'd only get 16 colors instead of 4096. There may also be an adapter to hook it up to the analog input to the monitor, but you'd get a lower resolution (and possibly black-and-white?)

Of course, it's been years since I've looked at this stuff, so my info may be out-of-date.

You probably really want a monitor that's more Amiga-friendly.

Thanks for the input. This is what I figured. I grabbed a good ol' 1084, which I KNOW works.

Yep, he's right. The 1902A is digital-only. You can pick up a 1084 (and one of its billion variants) or a 1080. You could also pick up an A520 and use a standard composite monitor/tv but it won't be anywhere near as sharp.
