Default Playstation Won't Read any CDs now (Model with RCA Jacks)

I got a playstation about a month ago. When I got it Playstation games wouldn't play but Audio CDs worked fine, I have been using it as a CD player since then. Just today it stopped working, I think the laser might be stuck. It makes a clicking noise when it tried to read an audio CD. I took it apart but don't see any gears to move in order to move the laser, any suggestions?

I'm far from an expert on the original PS1, but I do know that sometimes if you put it on its side it will work. Dunno for how long, or if it will in your case.

it's not stuck, the laser cant focus anymore. you need to either recalibrate it or get a new laser. you can use the guide on this site to fix it

this may not help you if you have one of the older 1001s with an all plastic laser, those tend to get grooves worn into the sled. you can fix that though if you fill the groove in, there's a tutorial for that too on the site i linked to

Thanks Snowkitty, It looks like there is indeed a groove in the plastic which I'll be able to fix. I'll reply once I have filled in the groove, See how it works out.

I epoxied it today and it seems to be working fine so far. When I first started it up it wasn't working but the reason why is the laser had to change its position, Soon after that it worked beautifully! Thanks!
