Default Do you use lanyards with your handhelds?

If you're anything like me, you've got a small army of handheld systems.

Do you use lanyards with your handheld systems? Why or why not? Personally, I think lanyards are very important as they stop you from accidentally dropping your valuables.

However, although I think they're important, I'm actually pretty lazy about using them. I've got one attached to my PSP, but that's it. I used to have that lanyard attached to my GBA SP2, but I've since put that in a rhinoskin case so I don't need one.

If you don't know what a lanyard is, see below...

Those are some niiiice lanyards she has there.....

Seriously, I don't use them on my handhelds really at all. I use them on my cell phone simply for the fact that, I'm usally walking or moving when I use a phone. When I'm playing with the DS or PSP, I'm usually stationary. I usually play in bed, or in the car on my lunch break. If I drop it there, the worst that may happen is it may fall on a pillow or 1 foot onto soft carpet. No worries there.

Yea, I rarely take my handhelds out of the house, and if I do its usually only to a family member's house. So I'm always just sitting on a couch/bed when I'm playing so I have no need for lanyards.

I try to do so, but I don't really have many laying around and can't bring myself to actually BUY them most the time.

I don't use landyards for much anymore, only convention badges and when I used to wear a nametag at my old work. Though I do like the little dongles for cell phones and the PSP...

You bastard! It's because of people like you that I have to sit and watch that screen that says "make sure to hold on tight to your wiimote and secure it to your body" every time I want to play a wii game!

I hope this happens to you:

    (Actually I don't - I just like this image)

I got one on my GBA Micro and that's all. It's my nerdy necklace.

I've gotta ask a question - maybe I should have asked earlier since it's my own thread. I don't use around-the-neck lanyards, I use the around-the-wrist ones.

Those are still called lanyards right?

I didn't even know that you could connect a lanyard to a handheld, so no I don't use one. I've never had a problem about dropping them either so I don't see a point in it.

I use of small on on my PSP that fights around my wrist when taking it anywhere. I remember reading a thread about a guy that dropped his at launch and crack the screen all to hell. I'm not a huge fan the handheld, so I take the extra precaution so it doesn't break and I need to buy another for the small collection of games that I enjoy on it.

Nope. I use one of those Playstation-controller-shaped "holders" for my PSP, so It's pretty secure. I also make sure that I'm not holding it over anything harsh like a concrete floor. I don't want to test the durability of the PSP screen any time soon, thanks.

Nothing lets me get my freak on like dangling a $500 PC-Engine GT around my neck.

Funny that you mention it though, since all the classic handhelds (GG for sure, Nomad probably) let you do this.

Well, they don't all go around your neck. Instead, some just loop around your wrist like a wiimote. I do this with my PSP. In case I drop it, it won't hit the floor. It's actually saved it a few times.

I've never dropped a handheld while playing it. How is that even possible? I can see if you're carrying it someplace and accidentally drop it, but while you're playing your hands are curved around it in such a way that it would be very hard to drop....right?
