Default What to do with old video game magazines

So I have a few boxes of old video game magazines. Mostly EGM, Gamefan, Next Generation and Gamepro. I don't have the room for them anymore. I tried to take them to recycling but I just couldn't accept that they would be shredded up. I spent soooo much money on these damn things its hard to just destroy them. Any thoughts?

Or you could sell them, I'm pretty sure people collect magazines too. It would be a waste to throw them out.

    Default hmmm...

Yeah, I buy plenty of older mags on ebay. Prices are random. Sometimes you can get a bunch, sometimes nothing. Next Generation MIGHT get you some money, EGM's if they are olde enough will definitely. I don't know much about GameFan but if you list them I'd give you a bide since I have none...

Shipping can be expensive. I prefer large lots myself even if I know I am getting duplicates...

GameFan, particularly the first two years of the brand, can go for a pretty penny. The earlier issues can hit $10-$15 an issue. A lot of people are now mid-20/30 somethings who have fond childhood memories of flipping through GameFan in the early-mid '90s plus combined with their scarity make them go for a pretty penny.

Ya it really sucks I had one box of about 60 or so egm mags from 1991 to about 1996 but mice got into that box and chewed them to shreds. Stupid parents garage..

People take old magazines and scan them?

I'd like to send some complete magazine sets I have to someone... I'd like to scan them, but I'll never have the time to do so. Who do I contact?

I just scan the ads myself but I know others that do the whole magazines. But yes gamefans are always in demand and older nintendo powers.

Back in Fall '98 I traded my entire collection of old videogame magazines to somebody in Missouri (I think) for a modded Playstation with controllers, a handful of burned games, a Vectrex and 1 controller, and a Vectrex multicart.

The collection included every issue of the original Electronic Games (from before they folded, and years later started up again), along with a scattering of other videogame mags from the 80's. I think there were 46 EGMs, and 15 other mags, for a total of 61 magazines.

So you might find a worthwhile trade for the collection.

    Good luck.

There WAS one guy who worked with The Video Game Museum. He had hundreds if not thousands of scans on his website...

    That's the guy.
