Post Sealed Astal for The Saturn: to Open, or Not to Open?

I bought a sealed copy of Astal for the Saturn for $10 today. It's not supposed to be a big collectible or rarity iirc, but I'm not too sure about sealed copies.
I really want to open and play it, but not if it has any significant value or rarity attached to it.
    In Heaven, everything is fine.

I'd just open it. As far as I know, it's not exceedingly rare or anything.

Good. I'll go ahead and rip it open then!

Just to give you some perspective (that you hopefully got for yourself), on eBay CIB copies have sold for between 10 and 35 bucks, not including shipping. As we all know, sealed copies of games sell for more. Without knowing squat about Saturn collecting and especially sealed Saturn collecting, I still feel safe saying you could get $40 for it. You can BIN a CIB copy for $18 right now.

Now it is simply a matter of deciding how much $22 is worth to you, also factoring in the time it takes to list stuff.

From my perspective, I sell stuff on eBay anyway, so listing it isn't a big deal. Also, I have plenty of other games I want to play and lack any hyperactivity or ADD that would compel me to open and play the game this instant. Patience, and buying low/selling high is the basis of and only means for me to have a game collection, though. That's just my situation.

I've been tricked! The disc had a sticker on it from a chain store in Kentucky.
They re-sealed it in really good look-a-like Saturn wrapping. I'm no expert when it comes to seals used on Sega products, but I was sure this had to have been an authentic seal.

I guess it's a good thing you opened it then!

I'm really glad I opened it now. There's no use keeping a second-hand sealed game around without opening it. (Unless you wanted to keep something re-sealed, that is.)

Sega was never really good about doing factory sealed jobs that would be difficult for anyone w/ a shrink wrapper to duplicate, unlike Nintendo. Really sucks, but it's very difficult to tell whether a Sega product really is new or just resealed. Sure that's fine for a cheapo copy of Astal you picked up, but imagine if you'd paid $500 for Panzer Dragoon Saga.
