Hello, let me first start off by saying that I have not owned a PS2 before so I am a complete noob at this and I'm trying to figure out what my best option is. I want to get a PS2 to play some old Japanese games (both PS1 and PS2 games), however Japanese PS2 are obscenely expensive so I'm guesing the better route would be to get an American one for cheaper and somehow mod it. I'm not experieced enough with soldering to do the work myself, and I've asked my friends and colleagues and they don't know anyone who can "chip" them anymore.
So since I can't open up the PS2 and physically mod the board, is there someway I can still own an American PS2 and play imported games? Is there some kind of software on a loader disc or something that I can get that will not require me to physically mod my system, so that I can just insert the disc and boot to it and load the software, and then play whatever imported games I want to? Thanks very much for any advice.
