Default Anyone else use Free McBoot to softmod your PS2?

I'm looking to play an import or two on my slim ps2. I was wondering if any of you had tried free mcboot and if it is any good? My only other option is to fix and use a hard mod on a broken fat ps2 in sitting in my closet.

I haven't used McBoot (got a chipped system) but from what I hear, it's pretty easy to set up. All you need is an Action Replay Max disc (the version with the 'Max Media Player' on it) and a USB stick to load all the files on. If you don't have any of that, I've seen free install services offered on a few forums where you just send someone your memory card and they'll set everything up for you.

The only drawback is that you gotta patch the discs before playing them and that they all have to be burned to dvd (even CD games). There's no need to swap discs though, so a lot of people prefer McBoot over Swap Magic now.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about having to patch and burn the games. I don't want to deal with that. I think I'd rather try fixing the ps2 in my closet and putting a modchip in than trying McBoot on my slim.
