    Question Gamecube Controller Cleaning Help

Ok, so after noticing a huge build up of... whatever the crap I saw on my controller, contained within places I could not really clean, I decided to dismantle the thing in order to clean it up (Whatever this stuff was was causing some sticking, too). Ended up getting a triwing screwdriver, taking the entire thing apart carefully, then proceeding to put any non-metal and non-circuitry items into soapy water to soak. So basically, the buttons, the analog sticks when removed from the controller, and the shell itself.

However, here's my problem: I look at the circuit board to find, around where the main analog stick would be, a HUGE build up of this grime right on the board itself! And this stuff is caked on, as I found out from trying to scrub it off my R button. I know it ain't gonna come off easy.

How the heck am I suppose to get this stuff cleaned off without damaging the board? I don't just want to leave it there!

Q-tip and rubbing alcohol? I've never cleaned a Gamecube controller, but I've cleaned the grime off of the circuit board of Genesis controllers at least a few dozen times and have never had a problem using a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.
