Oh yeah, here's the thread, the buyer made videos and stuck them on youtube. All kinds of crazy mods, even a controller port if I remember right.

these kind of responces always confuse and annoy me. why not just emulate everything? why even have a site for older consoles and games...why even bother with an xbox, get a pc and do it all on that.

he wants a modded gamegear to play game gear games on a tv with the acual hardware, suggesting the xbox route is fine as maybe the OP wasn't aware of it but come on....

i almost had this mod done myself by segasonicfan over at the NG forums, sent payment and everything but apperently its way easier with a 2 chip earlier game gear and for the life of me i could not find one to send him. eventually he got bogged down with work and refunded me.

let us know if you find someone that does it.

I was told about that guy but had no idea where to find him.

It's also worth mentioning that any GG-tv project will require new caps too, I imagine.

At this point I think it'd be worthwhile to get a couple cosmetically new GGs off ye 'Bay and get them done at the same time, if the man will do that, that is.

i don't think sonicfan does mods anymore, which is a shame cause he did good work. he fixed the sound and caps on all the game gears i sent him.

apperently there are to versions of the game gear out there. a 2 and 1 chip version. you can tell its an older 2 chip by the sega licence screen not comeing up when a game is started. the mod can be done with either version but im told its way easier with the 2 chip. i looked for months for a 2 chip and couldn't find one. even posted wants in all the forums. there not supposed to be rare i think i just had rotten luck.

expect to pay about a $150 for the mod at least thats what i was quoted but that was with all the connectors (composite, s-video, rgb, stereo).

Could you be talking about the Majesco rerelease GG from about 2001? I've been looking for one of those for the better screen. Ultimately TV-out will be the best choice, of course.

no, those won't work. these are going to be early production run GG's. eventually sega figured out a way to streamline things more and consolidated things into one chip. i was told the 2 chip versions are more common on japanese game gears as well.

as i said the mod can be done with a new 1 chip and i beleive the majesco versions as well but its going to be more of a hassle for the modder. the couple people i talked to wouldn't even try the mod on a 1 chip and sonicfan told me he could do it but part of the mod would have to be external so i passed on asking him to mod the 1 chip GG i had.
