    Default Recommended PS1 & PS2 Replacement Cases?

What do you guys do when you need to replace a ps1 or ps2 case? Is there a specific brand or seller that sells these cases in bulk that match the ps1 & ps2 cases exactly?

I spent a good chunk of yesterday trying to find good cheap replacement cases for my used games and bestbuy & oficemax only carry rainbow colored ones, or the super thin kind. So I stopped by my local radio shack to see if they had any clear thick jewel cases for PS1 games and they do, but they have these i.d. numbers printed inside the corners of the case and these weird small circles that kill it for me.

If you can find a dollar store(I use Dollarama up here), you can get 4 cases the match PS2 cases damn near exactly for a buck..Complete with manual holders. Was using them for my Blockbuster bought 360 games.

There's a dollar store near my house, can't believe I forgot about it. So what about jewel cases for ps1 games? That's what I need to replace the most.

Generally, the center spindle on the PSX replacement cases aren't solid pieces of plastic, and the booklet isn't held in by the small tabs on the right. Minor quibbles.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

I know, ive taken apart the three pieces to a ps1 case many many times. Just wanted to know if there's a recommended brand or style.

Surplus stores and computer stores are the only places I've been able to find good clear jewel cases or colored DVD cases.

When it comes to PS1 cases (and Dreamcast, for that matter), any jewel case that isn't cracked and beat up is fine for me. Any center spindle that isn't damaged is fine as well as long as it's clear - I don't really care if it doesn't look like the original spindle. There is one exception, though: the back parts that originally came from a CD from a Warner Bros. label and have a WB logo in the lower right corner - they look too out of place.

However, when it comes to PS2 (and Gamecube) cases, any replacement has to be the real thing. Generic DVD cases won't do.

One option for picking up jewel cases: if you know of a store that has several budget CDs priced around a quarter or so, buy some of those (of course, avoid any with extremely beat up cases).

Gamecube cases I can understand since they're so different, but what's the problem with using generic ps2 cases? Do you really need the memory card holder that badly? I would too but there's no way for me to find new ps2 replacement cases with those card holders on them.

    PS2 cases:

    PS1 multi CD cases:

For PS1 single CD games any clear CD jewel case should be ok.

That first link looks perfect. I think ile order 10 or so to see the quality and then if they look good ile buy a bunch. Do you have any personal experience with that first site? How new are the cases they sell?

Well, they aren't exactly new, as in sent directly from the Amaray factory. As the description reads, they are taken from new PS2 games (BRE also sells the covers and manuals separately). I once bought a 30 pack from them and they arrived in good shape, but it's obvious that they suffered a little bit from being stored together (i.e. small scuffs, etc.). Nevertheles, they were in far better condition than the used ones you get from Gamespot and pawn shops.

For jewel cases you can hit the quarter bins at local record stores and strip the CDs. Then you also got some potentially decent new music to listen to. Or crap you can throw away without a thought.

Walmart sells 10-packs of clear jewel cases in their stores. I've been buying those for replacement PS1 and DC cases for years.

PS2 cases are a little trickier. They used to be available directly online from Amaray, but aren't anymore. They're tricky because of the slight blueish tint that regular black DVD cases don't have.

I have a huge stash of sealed PS2 "Jam Pack's" that I bought from TRU and Target for $0.50 or so a few years ago. They work perfectly although the Jam Pack cases are missing the memory card holder on the inside of the case. No big deal to me since new release PS2 games haven't had those for 2-3 years now anyway.
