Default The End of my Wii?

    Hey guys.

Before I post this I wanted to let you all know I have looked this up on Google and no searches have met my problem yet. This has happened before but I wanna know WHY it started happening again

About a week ago, I came back from Pennslyvania where I went on Vacation (my WiiCommect24 standby is off) and I decide to play Wii when suddenly it makes this really loud buzzing sound on the menu. I gave it a couple of turn on's and off's and eventually it went away, and I was happy.

Now today, I was playing House of the Dead Overkill (I just got it!) and now the same problem is happening again. The weird buzzing noise DURING the game, the same problem happens! I now go back to the Wii Menu and see that the words are flickering. It's starting to make me wonder "Is my Wii dead?"

Anyone else have this problem? Discuss

Dylan, Have you tried with other games?
Also maybe it's dusty, on the inside or the laser is dirty.
As you know I don't have a Wii this is only a suggestion.
Maybe ringing Nintendo will know the answer.

what's wrong with it? Did you ever get a circumcision?

    </wii joke>

I haven't had these problems, but about a month or so after i got my first wii (back in like november of 06, when it came out. The 29th i believe.) it started having green lines running up and down the screen. Apparently it was the WiiConnect24 chip melting into the graphics card, or so i have been told. perhaps this is what you were alluding to when you mentioned that your WC24 was off?

Have you tried laying the system down horizontally instead of vertically?

Mine buzzes, too. Sometimes the A/V inputs on my tv act a little screwy, causing the speakers in my tv to buzz. I paused the game to go smack my tv around (always takes care of the problem) but when I got close I found out it was the Wii. I thought it was natural. Now I'm worried. It only sounds like that when I'm playing HOTD 2 & 3 Return. I only have dial-up and haven't performed any types of mods (yet...I'll be doing the Homebrew Channel soon as my Twilight Princess game comes in).

My Wii will buzz sometimes too. I have definitely noticed it with HOTD Overkill. From perusing around the net that game seems to tax the drive a lot.

But anyway, my Wii is still working. I have WiiConnect turned off, and I also will eject the disc if I'm not playing a game.

I'd advise taking a vacuum with a brush to the outside of the Wii.

My nephew's console does the same thing. It's pretty noisy. He dropped it on the ground a couple of times in the past. The thing is, it sounds terrible, but it's still going well over a year after it started.

The only Wii system issue that Nintendo will admit to is the Super Smash Bros. Brawl malfunction problem. My Wii succumbed to that problem. It made a consistent buzzing noise and eventually shut down. Here's a link from Nintendo's website:

Could HOTD: Overkill possibly affect the system in the same way that Super Smash Bros. Brawl does?
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
