    Default Genesis/Megadrive compatibility questions.

I have a Japan market Mega Drive model 1. I have the honeybee US to Japan converter that allows it to play Genesis games. Here's the questions....

What are my compatibility options regarding the Sega CD?
Can I attach a US one or does it specifically need to be a Japanese one?
If I buy a region modded unit will that work or no?
    What about the 32x?
Finally, If I buy a Power Base Converter designed for the Japan model, are the SMS games region blocked or would the converter run US games also?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

When it comes to the Japanese MD compatibility with the Sega Cd system you have some options....

-Modding your Jap MD with Eng/Jap switch
-To get a Jap Sega Cd System
-To get a region cartridge converter such as the Megacart or Datel's CDX cartridge converter (some games may still be incompatible)
-To solder or socket a new BIOS into an American Sega Cd system

For the 32X system full compatibility, you'll definitely need a region switch....

And since there is not a huge amount of Sega Master System games with region lockout, with just a few European games exceptions (because some run at 50Hz)..,You should be fine with the Sega Master converter..

SMS Japanese cartridges are shaped differently than American carts.

You can make 'em go with an adapter.

I don't believe SMS or Mark III (JPN SMS) games of any stripe have a region lockout. Get the adapter and you're good to go; all you'll be missing is the FM sound.

Here's a question: is there any way to get one relatively easily? I've been putting off getting a Japanese Master System for just this reason (and the fact that they seem to be horribly overpriced...).
