vectrex controller issues

Just bougth a fairly cheap vectrex little dirty but powers up and plays except only like one button as far as I can tell works (basically in the two games I have minestorm and norzod I can not shoot anything) please help! I've found an article about cleaning the controller should I try that?

hell I'll even send it to someone to fix it (if I can't I'll try first)

instructions worked just disassembled and cleaned works great thank god to cause these controllers are hard to find basically just have to buy another system!

Just be glad it's the controller... a chip in the Vectrex could have been the reason

really? wow I am glad now I assume that would be even more complicated/expensive and would require sacrificing another system
