Default WTB: an MMC card for my ngage

I've got a 64 MB MMC card for my ngage QD. I've got snakes, a few wallpapers and some midi ringtones on it, but I'd love to be able to copy some or all of my (legitimately owned) retails games to it, so I never have to switch carts.

So, I'd like to get my hands on an MMC card. I've got some stuff to trade or if you're looking to get rid of one, let me know

Does the N-Gage require a MMC card, or can it use the SD?

I thought the MMC card wasn't really needed. Sure, it won't boot up without it in, but it will work fine with a dummy card.

It can only use MMC. SD cards won't fit

You're thinking of a sim card. MMC cards hold data such as images, games, movies and music.

Be very, very careful when you get them.

I have 2 1GB MMC's and they will not get recognized by my n-gage.

Let me suggest that you make sure that it is tested on an n-gage.

I thought I had an extra one, but I do not know if I do.

No guarentees, but if I can find mine, you pay shipping and nothing more. That was one of the things I completely forgot to look for.

My brother is in town from Cali for a wedding, so let me search sometime during the week to see if I have that somewhere.

My bad. I always see the terms together so I thought that they were interchangeable.

Yeah it is a little confusing. Store employees never know the difference either. An MMC card is about half the thickness of an SD card. Anything that can use SD can use MMC, but not vice versa.

SD and MMC are nearly identical, the only difference is the "Lock" slide switfch to write protect an SD card. They're supposed to be cross compatible, but nokia decided to be dicks about it and make the card slot too small to fit an SD card.

Here's a good site for finding MMCs cheap.

Awesome link - thanks. I'll have to look into them.

I wish there was a way to 100% be certain whether a certain card will work with the QD. I'd like to get a 1GB version and those prices are great, I'll have just to search which ones work and which ones don't.

I went to Radioshack (well, the Canadian version called "the Source") and salesperson was convinced that MMC and SD were the same thing. I told him a few times that they weren't and that an SD card wouldn't fit into my MMC slot. He wouldn't believe me until he opened up a brand new 1GB SD card and tried to put it in my ngage. Of course it didn't fit.

The whole thing was pretty funny.

edit: doing some searching, it seems that 1GB MMCs are pretty hit or miss with the ngage. From what I've read, even the 1GB MMCs that do work operate quite slowly. I guess I'll stick to a 512 MB. That should be good enough. I won't be putting movies or music on it, my 80GB zune will suffice for that.

It's still loads bigger than my 64 MB that I've got now
