    Default So I got a CD-i yesterday...

I got the system, the 450 model, with "Magnavox" on it. Unfortunately no cables or controllers, so I'm not 100% sure if it works or not.

Also got a game: Internation Tennis Open, the 2-player version.

Picked all that up at a thrift store for just over 7 dollars.

I'm very new to the CD-i. Never owned one before, don't even know anyone who has.

But once I get it up and running I'd like to start collecting some games for it.

Any suggestions for some fun games I should look into?

The Zelda & Mario CD-i games are interesting curiosities, but the games are all pretty bad. Hotel Mario plays the best out of the Nintendo titles.

Off the top of my head some of my favorite CD-i games are Burn Cycle, Pac Panic, Apprentice, and Plunderball.

If you don't have any controllers, you may want to track down a genesis to CD-i controller adapter. Official CD-i controllers aren't very good.

Also, some models supported or included a FMV module for video playback. Don't know about the Magnavox 450. If you get one of those, some games have extra content and you could play some of the Dragon's Lair style games for CD-i.

The 450 can be expanded with an FMV module, but it typically doesn't come with one. I would recommend getting one because a good percentage of the better games require it.

yeah, the zelda games look pretty bad, but they seem like perfect things to add to one's video game collection. As well as Hotel Mario.

and I've seen those CD-i to Genesis controller converter things. Wasn't sure if they were worth looking into, but I will now. After all, the Genesis controller is brilliant. I use it to play games on my Atari 7800, cause that system's controllers are pretty bad too.

    The Apprentice is nice.

You should check out "The Half Blind Gamer" on youtube. This guy reviews a lot of CD-I games.

Get "Thunder In Paradise" and "Tetris" for it. Lately it seems like quite a few people have been spotting these but I have never seen a CD-I in the wild. Now 3DO's, I see those all the time(just bought my third one in the wild last month).

Thats lucky. I see 3DO's where I live extremely rarely. 2 in the last 7 years.

man, to the best of my knowledge I've never run into a 3DO. At least, not since I've started collecting games.

I'm also kinda hoping to run into a complete Pioneer Laseractive, or Vectrex.

You know, systems that are obscure and not well known.

also, thanks for the suggestion on the videos ruudos. Before whenever I tried to look up CD-i videos all I got were the horrid Zelda cut scenes.
