I'm selling my Sega Saturn system.

Details are on my craigslist posting. I'm willing to ship.

Shouldn't this be posted in the "horrible craigslist postings" topic?

    Jeez. Negative people on here.

    A couple points:

    1) the post says "OBO" which means "or best offer"
    2) this isn't an ordinary Saturn, hence the higher asking price

But hey, if you could point me to a place where I could find an identically equipped Saturn for a much cheaper price, then I'd like to know. I would actually be curious. I tried searching around, but I couldn't find much information on what the going rate would be for something like this. But like I said, if you could point me in the right direction so that I could educate myself, I'd be happy to.

I don't know, I bought my modded Sega Saturn for $60 CIB. That's probably too cheap, I probably just got a really good deal.

When did you get it? That's another thing, mod chips have become scarcer and gone up in price, and that's not counting the expense of shipping it off/installation if you need someone else to do it for you. Plus the region switch is a bonus.

I have a fully tricked out Saturn (chipped, switchless region) I wouldn't let go for less than $100 and it's still not for sale. I consider it the hot rod of all my game systems.

Less than a month ago, but I think it just has a region switch, I don't think it can play backups.

Also note, it has an actual switch to switch regions.

Saturn System model 2 = 40/50$, Mod Chip = 30$ after shipping, ProAction replay plus = 30$ new. This is the set-up you want, and add another 20$ for cds you can burn doubles of all your games. Should cost no more than 130$ for everything.
Also, the mod chips are really easy to install. no problem there, so paying much extra for one already tricked out might not be worth it.

Its a cart that you put in the Saturn cart slot that lets you play imports, has the extra 4M of ram so you can play all the fast import fighting games, holds tons of save files, and lets you put cheats in if you like that sort of thing.

Paired with a mod chip and you can play any burned saturn game, import or domestic.

Are there any known compatibility issues or does it work 100% perfectly?

I used to mod saturn's, takes about about 5 minutes (longest part is unscrewing the system) and requires extremely little or no soldering knowledge (that being said, it's still worth something to have it done). The switch is a little tougher, system is worth $85-100 in my opinion, but you might be able to get someone to pay more.

$60 for a modded system CIB is very very cheap and not the norm.

Don't worry about the people on here complaining, I used to sell them for $65-75 on here (no region mod though, I use the cart) and the whiners would still appear breaking down the costs and the $5-15 I was making off each one (wow what a scam artist I was). Good luck.

There are no compatibility issues, the security system on the saturn just goes and checks the end of the disc real quick to make sure some data is there, the mod-chip makes it so it thinks it already did (and passed). The region mod, well sega could have included that if they wanted, it's very simple, this mod is really just turning a feature on the board that existed already, just wasn't wired to do so (so there's no chip for the region mod, just connecting a few wires). Also, if you don't have a region modded saturn OR a cart, you can actually use this software to change the region code of the iso so that it will play in an NTSC system, it's very easy to use too.
