    Default Permanent Marker

Is thier any way or possibly a mixed solution to get permanent marker off the back of nes and snes games, when I was younger I wrote my name on the back of all my carts and would like to remove it for trading purposes.. plus it shows my poor hand writing :P

Goo Gone works pretty well. You will have to use several applications and really rub the hell out of it, but eventually you can get MOST of it off. I bought and entire collection one time in which EVERY game was scrawled on with Sharpie marker. It took a LOT of work, but eventually I got many of the games totally clean and the rest were close.
The main problem with NES carts is the texture on the plastic. I use a stiff brush to scrub the Goo Gone in.

Oops wil also work but that will sometimes melt the plastic and will damage the sticker.

Some one on this board told me to use a white eraser. i did that on a couple of my SNES games and marker came off right away.

    Hope this helps

Where can you buy Goo Gone? Is it a supermarket item or is it more of a Home Depot-style product? This is the first I've ever heard of it.

    Default hm

Dunno about NES games, but I get frustrated with EB / Game when they scrawl in black marker on all the pre-owned games (usually a big 'P', and a number over the bar code). However I have found that a clean cloth and a dab of white spirit can do wonders

Just use rubbing alcohol. It won't disolve plastic.

it also won't get the marker off very well. especially if its permanent and been on the cart for a long time.

I just used cotton balls soaked in alcohol. You need to rub. It won't come off in one swipe.

Yeah, but you don't need very much Goo Gone at all to get good results. I got a post-rental Tengen Tetris cart that had been a victim, as most rental carts are, of stickers. All the Goo Gone I used was simply enough to get the end of a cotton swab wet (I think I used 4 of these, and that would include the back as well):

Edit: replaced the ~1MB file with this smaller version.
    It's still 340K, be warned.

Goo Gone is available in many fine general and grocery stores such as Wal-mart, Target. Meijer. etc....

Never heard of that eraser trick. I'll have to try it, Thanks!

Heh, Eraser Trick. I suppose you'd know about what I'm getting at, seeing as you're a GnG fan also, Ben Reilly?
