    Default NES Toploader Controller Problem?

So, I bought a NES Toploader at a yard sale today. It booted up and seemed to work, until I tried to play, it won't respond at all when I press buttons on the controller.

Both controllers work fine on my toaster, so I assume it's a problem with the controller ports. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Did you try blowing into the controller output plug and the system controller inputs? It may be a bit of dust inside blocking connections. Otherwise its broken.

Please, very rarely is something broken that cannot be fixed.

When I bought my toploader its controller ports wouldn't work either (actually just the first player port). It's most likely the solder connecting the port to the pcb has come loose.

All that you need to do is open it up, and then using a soldering iron re-solder all of the pins from the controller port. It literally takes less than 5 minutes if you have the 4.5 mm security bit.

Here is the thread that I made about it:

I did not say it was unfixable. The definition of broken is that it does not work/the way its supposed to. Broken does not mean only the objects that are unfixable. I would have clarified a fixing potential solution if I have had a lot of experience soldering things and knew exactly what I was talking about.
