    Default Renting Post Office Boxes

What are your guys' thoughts on renting post office boxes, especially when dealing with folks on ebay and forums?

Why, does your mailman suck and leave boxes out in the rain or something? I always have a ton of packages coming and going and I've never had a problem, even though I live in a not-so-good neighborhood. Unless you're worried about shitty mail service and/or your stuff being stolen from your porch, I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't recommend it, unless you have a specific need for one. Why pay an extra monthly/yearly fee when you don't need to?

I live in a shit hole neighborhood and am always worried about packages being stolen, but they never have and I probably get 10-20 packages a week, so once one gets stolen I'll rent a PO box.

Well, I was also looking at it from a privacy perspective -- not just whether packages could be stolen. I know a lot of the more serious collectors just have their stuff shipped to their work or some alternate address. Maybe so they don't get burglarized?

Were talking about video games here, not top secret government documents. What level of privacy are you looking for? Are you concerned that you are going to get a expensive item and someone is going to show up at your address as somewhere to steal it back?

I have a post office box. It is cheap and extremely secure.

Where I live all the mail boxes are grouped together down the street. And I was doing contract work when we moved here so I didn't want checks coming to a mail box down the street where some meth head could find it.

It helps that the Post Office is on my way home from work now, so I don't have to go out of my way to get my mail.
