Default Strange Famicom Disk System problem

OK, so I got a replacement Famicom, and I tried my disk system out for the first time. The system loads games quickly (at least the ones that I have), so it is probably not the belt, but there is a hum that comes through the speakers and the entire screen flickers occasionally. I cleaned the RAM adapter, and that didn't help. Regular Famicom games play without either of these problems. These problems occur before a disk is inserted as well (during the load screen). Please help!

    Thanks.

I don't know much about the FDS, but it sounds like some sort of power supply problem. Specifically, it sounds as if the PSU is not delivering enough power. Bad capacitor perhaps?

    Anyone else?

Mine sort of has this problem too, but only if I turn up the TV quite loud.

Try blowing/talking into the microphone on controller port 2 -- if you hear yourself through the TV speakers, you have a problem similar to mine.

But flickering too? Perhaps you're getting interference in the RF modulator -- try another, if you have a spare lying about.

I suspected a PSU problem at first as well, so I will try using batteries instead of the PSU.
The only reason I don't think that the RF adapter is at fault is because regular Famicom games play just fine.
