I just played this game, and I must say it is one of the WORST space shooters I have ever played. Sure the graphics are nice, but the gameplay sucks. Who in their right mind would pay $300 for such a horrible game?

Collectors. The 32x library is easy to get (especially the USA set) but if you are going for a complete PAL set (or just want all the USA releases plus the 2 UK exclusives and the one Japanese exclusive) then DarXide is a MUST and they printed like 12 copies.
I myself thought it was pretty decent and I was playing the original cartridge. Did you emulate it? Maybe that slowed it down a bit. There is some slowdown in the real thing but overall I thought it was a pretty decent shooter until the difficulty ramps up to near impossible (at least for me).
There's also a decent cellphone version available.
Extra nice graphics for a 32x game... too bad about the slowdown.
PS. Please tell me where I can get this game for $300. I'll buy it in a second if it's complete.
!

I played the game in an emulator and thought it played too fast actually.
I would want someone to repro this game for the US 32X....
In the mid-90s for a console space shooter, it was actually considered quite good. I own a sealed copy and a loose cart version along with the appropriate PAL hardware and although I don't know that it still holds up, it was pretty fun at the time. Also, the value is more like $500 - $750 for a complete copy and over $1K sealed if you can find it.
The music is quite good, but that's all I can really say.
It also had a good pedigree to it, since it was made by one of the two guys who created the very first 3D space shooter, Elite.
Yeah, definitely. Sure, it's simple, just 3d Asteroids, but what it does it does very well, and the graphics are extremely impressive, even if the close draw distance is annoying. Textured polygons on 32X? Very nice.
The only real problem with it is the insane price. And that it requires European hardware to work of course.
The two Japanese exclusives are San Goku Shi IV and Surgical Strike. There is no other UK Exclusive.

Surgical Strike is a Mega CD release only.
guess we'll have to fix that one then, whoops.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind dropping 500 on Darxide actually. I picked up Fifa for like 45 dollars complete, so I think I made out all right there.
But I've NEVER seen the JP exclusive, ever. How much does that go for?
EDIT: Also, apparently there's a proto of the X-Men game for 32X on Ebay.co.uk. Is that worth pursuing-- hard to find?
EDIT 2: He also has Virtua Hamster! That's tight. I will definitely go for that one. I wonder if these are legit protos...

I have both of these games... got them from Sean Kelly about 10 years ago. I remember asking him if he could just sell me a copy but he said he didn't have the equipment to copy a 32x cart and didn't know if it could even be done.
The ones I have are certainly genuine protos, the only ones I own. I'm looking to sell them if anyone is interested... I mounted them into 32x cart casings from some common donor carts and used actual Sega scans for the fronts and custom artwork for the spines and back.
CLICK THE PICS!
I am also selling San Goku Shi IV (Japan only, complete, near mint) and FIFA Soccer (complete, very good). PM me if interested!

Sorry but Darxide sucks big time. Its one of the worst games Ive ever played. I think those who say they like either are trying to act cool or have no taste in video games. If it was worth $5 no one would even talk about it.
