Default Sharp 19SV111 service manual .pdf interest check.

This thread has been edited from it's original purpose for a new one. Kthx.

Ok, while the responses have been lacking, I was thinking on releasing the information contained within the manual to those on DP. I'm currently halfway though making the final PDF and prepared a sample.

    Located here:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TCC9BILV

It contains several things such as:
    -Schematics
    -part numbers
    -service instructions
    -and disassembly instructions.

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in a copy or would this be a project I should just shelve.. (Literally.)

I don't know what to ask for a copy. Do you think it's ok I sell the information?

    Thoughts?

Personally, and as an owner of a Sharp NES I'd pay 10-15 for it. I paid about that for the system, though, plus I'm cheap. I'd guess for a collector that pays 'retail' for their items it would be more like 30-40.

I'd finish this project if I were you. Preserve the information and make it public.

I'd love to get the pdf if you complete it and feel like releasing it, but I'm not willing to pay for a copy.

Well, if I was going to ask for anything it would never be over a dollar. It would just be for time spent putting it together. It's a bit hard making a fold out page complete with a legal size printer/scanner.

Yeah, that's cool, as would be shipping and all. I just wouldn't pay the 10 or 20 for a reproduction like you sometimes see.

    Hi otoko,

I tried to ping you on IM but you were Away. I just got a hold of a Sharp 19SV111 which unfortunately, did not turn on. I was wondering if you finished that digital copy of the Service Manual.

OK, so the TV did turn on, but it seemed like it didnt feed signal to the screen, so even though I could see the channel, change to game (P), and everything showed up in the red LEDs, nothing showed up in the screen.

I had to talk to someone who has repaired TVs in the past, and figured out that the power supply circuit was the problem. We rebuilt the power supply circuit and the TV works beautiful now! The embedded NES produces a clear, sharp, and crisp image that there is no way you can get with coaxial cable.

I will attach pictures soon, but I have a couple questions for other people that own this set.

    - Are both speakers supposed to work? I only hear sound from the left speaker, the right speaker seems to not be working.

    - Does the quality of the picture decrease if you plug another device (NES) to the TV? I plugged an NES and the picture shows a bit of static. I plugged the cable to the TV and it looks OK, but still with a little static. I dont know if this is expected, given the fact that this is an old TV.

    Thanks.

Nice jorb on the repair! Glad to see it rescued.

The NES only does mono sound, so it makes sense for it only to use one speaker. I checked mine, and it only plays out of the left (as you are looking at it) speaker. Since I don't have an antenna hooked up, I can't verify that the other speaker does indeed work. I only get static out of the left speaker, so I don't know what to make of that. I never really watched tv on mine, but don't recall noticing only mono sound. Sorry that probably isn't much help.

Every little bit of info helps!

I think I have a complete set, except that the GAME piece can come loose, the other plastic part covering the color/brightness/tint settings is also a little loose, and the screw on the remote control doesnt screw anymore, so I have the remote tied with a rubber band, and it works perfectly fine.

I was looking online and I found a place that supposedly sells replacement parts for the 19SV111. However, the plastic casing of the TV and NES alone, was about $150. That is too much, unless this TV increases in the future. Only time will tell...

I look at it this way. While it would take time and effort to make a .pdf of this particular manual, you have to look at how many classic video game and arcade manuals have been scanned and uploaded all over the net. Check DP's own library for example- that we get to download and use for free.

I'd take your time doing it, especially if it has quite a few pages. Or maybe lend it to someone who you know would take the time to do it. Or you could just sell it, if you'd like. Anyway, those are just my thoughts.

That's weird, my remote doesn't have a screw. I assume you mean to hold the battery cover on? My battery cover does come loose because the bottom clippy things are worn.

I'd like a new shell for mine since one of its feet are broken, but not for 150, especially considering how little paid for it in the first place.

It is probably my best finds, especially since the NES collection is the one I care most about, and I got it with remote, the 2 black controllers, and some games all for a song. The 2600 proto I found recently for pocket change is pretty dang cool, but I'm just not into 2600 enough to hang onto it.

That's pretty cool you've found rare stuff like that. I find amazing deals and huge lots of valuable common stuff for cheap but nothing really rare like a NES TV or a proto.

Mine does have a screw in the back of it. My remote is a G0684CESA. Here are a few pics:

Let me know if this is the same one you have!

Yeah, that's the same. Mine has a big sticker on the back with an old cable channel guide (or somesuch), so I didn't know about the screw, though of course it seems obvious what you were talking about now.

I figure charging 1$ was a pretty dumb idea.. So I'm going to release it for free. I'm getting last minute opinions on it so I'm going to post it in the Classic Gaming Forums when I'm done. I'll link the new thread from here when I'm done.

Maybe you can email Joe or an admin, and they can put it in the library section here. That would be a really cool. In this thread here they were looking for manual scans a few months back, so this may be able to help you out.
