wow.. that is completely gross. Well lets say hypothetically, this seller did do it. and even though it is probably too late to figure out, I would have done exactly as you did but I would've taken one of the ants and took careful notes as to what kind it is. Identifying an ant and then using the intarwebs to see if it is native to the state I was living in. If it isn't and then it's clearly one from the sellers state or from in-transit.

I guess this is something you can look back on and laugh about.

I guess consider yourself lucky it wasn't roaches..

I would be freakin pissed to find a hoarde of ants upon opening a box. Fortunately the only "surprises" I usually find are the occasional disc, inside a disc based console which the seller either forgot to take out, or didn't know about.

My best find ever was when I went to pick up my ColecoVision Kiosk that I won. Underneath in the storage compartment, were about 15 CIB games, and the assembly instructions for the kiosk. Not to mention the key for the locking doors.

That sucks man. I would guess the box was left somewhere where the ants got in, possibly in transit. Also it could have been the box itself hosting the ants. The buyer may have put the box together filled it and sealed it then mailed it out after it sold. I would make sure you killed them all as they can be hard to drive out of ones home.

I'm thinking that maybe the package got something sticky on it. ants love sweet stuff and might have clung to the package.

Yeah, that or some food crumbs or something of the sort. I have so many freaking ants around my way, but never any in the packages (luckily). From experience though, it takes very little to attract the little monsters.

If they had ported Anteater to the Colecovision you wouldn't have had this problem.

Not possible if the ants were alive.

Ants can live a while without food, but not without water. Even if their journey through the mailing system was only two or three days, without a water supply they'd all be dead by the time the buyer received the parcel.

By the way, the ants have returned to my mailbox. Bastards.

I've thrown in random cheap but cool stuff for mtg sales.

Maybe he added a cookie or something and ants got in?

'Tis even worse if you were to get a massive spider or something poisonous in your package from eBay. Be happy it was just ants.

Could you imagine... you open the package and a bunch of squirrels all jump out of the box and let loose in your house. It'd be like that scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Don't laugh, this happened to my sister when she ordered a computer. There was a very large, very hairy, very alive spider in the box when she opened it. Caused quite a mess when they tracked it down and killed it after the initial scare.
