Default Space Harrier Arcade original vs Sonics UGC emu version

I unlocked the arcade version of Space Harrier on the Sonics Ultimate Genesis Collection for 360. Seems a bit off, I don't remember it being that fast and I don't remember the controls auto centering, did the actual arcade version autocenter? Seems to mess me up more than help. Did the 32X version auto center?
"Oh my lord it's nutty, yup!"

    The arcade version auto-centers.
For reference, Space Harrier was originally designed to be played with an analog stick.

The 32X version, though a solid port, only runs at 30 fps and can sometime be an issue.

For fun reading, here's a breakdown of all of the home ports up to the Saturn release in '96.

Also, the 32X version is letterboxed, instead of being full screen like the arcade and Saturn versions.

So the first truly arcade-quality port was the Sega Ages Saturn version in 1996 / 1997.

Yea, but even that one had some silly nasty bugs.

So which is the best version of Space Harrier to get, the 32x version I'm assuming?

    Oh no…

The best port would be the PS2 version, Space Harrier COMPLETE collection (not to be confused with the Sega Ages Space Harrier) It is a perfect arcade port offering analog control, proper 240p resolution, all "arcade bugs", as well as versions of Space Harrier SMS, Space Harrier 3D (SMS) and Genesis Space Harrier II.
