Unhappy Sega CD stopped reading games

I have a model one sega cd. I haven't played it in years, but I had the urge to play eternal champions. So,I dusted it off and cleaned the contacts and hooked it up to the tv and it played beautifully. I took a break from playing and decided to clean the laser with a cd laser cleaner disc. I then continued to play games with no problem. The next day I boot the system up and it won't read my games.

With that said,it does play the cd+g 'rock paintings' disc and music cd's without a problem.

Any idea as to what is going on?

    Thanks

Two Possibities - The cleaner disc broke your cd drive or the Sega CD just quit due to age or other mechanical difficulties. Try and reclean the lens manually with a qtip and such and if the doesnt work then I dont know.

If the laser cleaner disc damaged the sega cd's laser, then why does it play music cd's and cd+g's with no problems?

Anyway,I took her apart and cleaned the lens, put her back together again, and all the kings horses and all the kings men still couldn't get the f-er to work again!

So,I clean the contacts of both the genesis and sega cd and I spent the night making videogame love with my sega cd! It worked!

The next day I hook it up to an lcd tv and It didn't work (WTF!) So I cleaned it again and it worked! I played several rounds of eternal champions. I left to relieve myself, came back and the screen is blank and I haven't been able to ride this horse again.

I think its a problem with the contacts and possibly the ac plug-in on the genesis and its not from using a laser cleaner.

I'm going to try and find an replacement, possibly a model two, since I have a genesis 2 thats practically new.
