Default Seriously, What's stopping people from selling WiiWare Games?

I was thinking about this for a while now. How come people are not putting WiiWare games that they have that they just don't want anymore on a memory card and sell them? I could see the point in it's a waste of money because you can just buy it digitally but what if the person does not have a wireless router and does not have the Wii Shop installed. But I already could name you a few people that could be interested in this.

    What's your opinion on this?
Is it a waste of time?
Or is it something worth contemplating?

I think Wii downloads are digitally matched with the console so you cant just play them on another... Im not positive on that though.

Digital rights management. In other words, you can't. Think about it first: if it was possible to do that, what would stop them from sharing WiiWare games online?

Had a great idea to sell items on Ebay for people who don't have routers. Then I realized that in order to accept a gift, they'd still need a router.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

    For kupomogli:

I'm a bit confused on what you mean but I'm pitching the idea of selling wiiware games on a memory card so that way they have some sort of extra with the wiiware game so they're more tempted to buy.

A.) What's stopping people from doing it? Nintendo! Do you think that they just FORGOT to include some form of copy protection?

2.) What you describe in the first post and what you're "pitching" in the last post sound like two completely different things. Are you talking about piracy for profit - OR are you talking about companies selling WiiWare on memory cards instead of the Wii Store for people who don't have an internet connection?

im pretty sure he means #2, Selling games like World of Goo on a preloaded Memory card in a retail store for people that want a physical copy and dont have the Wii connected to the internet.

These WiiWare games and Virtual Console games have DRM. In other words, you CAN play them off of removable storage(SD card), but they will only work on the console it was bought from.

When you purchase it, they register your console's serial number and they lock the game so it will only work on that console. You can "technically" play it on another Wii, but the Wii needed to be modded and the game needs to be cracked. Don't ask me how it's done, I have no idea.

    Really? Yathink?

    People?

Games that they have that they just don't want anymore ... AND SELL THEM?

Hrmmmm ... that's a pretty strange way to describe a company selling games pre-loaded on a memory card.

How exactly would a company that developed/sold a game not "want" it anymore?

It's funny because I was discussing this in another thread about 360 games. More specifically, I wanted to know if games that were no longer available for sale on XBLA could be saved to a memory card(from people who already bought them) and played on another console after loading the memory card. But the DRM thing pretty much gave me my answer.

Yeah, the 360 has the same thing. Before I had internet and before my 360 had gotten red ringed, I took my 360's hard drive to my friend's house and downloaded some games. But, since they got registered to his console, I couldn't play them offline. I could play them ONLINE because they were registered with my username. The 360 has DRM as well. But, if your console breaks, you're not completely fucked. All you have to do is migrate your username to your new console, re-download them, and play them. But, you have to be logged in to Xbox Live. As far as games no longer on there, I'm not sure. I didn't even know they took games off. Bastards!

Don't you mean modem? A router technically doesn't connect to the internet. If you were to revise your post to say "modem" instead, it's be a lot funnier.

I don't know when the term "company" was brought in. I mean regular people putting WiiWare games onto a 1 gig memory card let's say and selling it themselves.I have about 2 or 3 WiiWare games on my Wii that I wish I could get rid of because when i look at them I'm ashamed.
But since of DRM, I guess my idea goes down the toilet.

Oh, And I do mean No.2

And the games that I am so ashamed of are Pokemon Ranch which I played for 2 days and stopped. And that BlackJack game.

Better control over impulse purchases like that would eliminate the need to resell.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

The fact that WiiWare games effectively can't be demoed does make for a troublesome state of affairs when it comes to "impulse purchases".

Unlike the other two major console DLC services WiiWare users need to do a lot more research to determine whether any particular game would be worth their time/money ... unless they know somebody who has already downloaded the specific game that they're interested in and can play it on that person's Wii ... they're left to looking at reviews and/or watching videos ... which, while helpful don't ultimately perform the same task as playing a demo version.

It would be nice to see Nintendo allow for/devs to start producing demo versions of WiiWare releases.

I'd venture to guess that more people would be inclined to try (and ultimately buy) more titles if they could play a level or so.

Yep....I have not yet bought a Wiiware game. It's like "gee, should I blindly invest in a Wiiware title, or one of these PS3 games with the demo I enjoyed?"
