Any one know how I could find local used game stores in San Francisco, California?

I really hate going into gamestop and gamecrazy. I buy most of my games online, but I still enjoy the experience of browsning through physical copies of video games. I would love to be able to go to a local used game store in San Francisco, especially if they sold old consoles and games (nes,snes,etc).

Anybody know of any good used game stores in San Francisco?Or if not, does anybody know of any sites that would help me find them?

There is literally only one. http://www.stargamessf.com/ They're fairly new. Website is terrible, but the store itself is probably decent. Good location anyway.

Beyond that, the nearest places are Game Exchange in Alameda, and Prove It Games in Oakland, which I just found out about. I think there used to be a place in Brisbane, but it's gone.

Yea since I have no car traveling outside the city to see a game store is too time consuming. I searched through every method I knew of and also could only find stargames. And lol the website is pretty horrendus, but if the actual store is good I wont care. I also found this on the stores myspace page

And I just checked it out, and apparently Prove It Games is less than a mile from the Macarthur Bart station. That's fairly accessable.

But man stargames' website is soo bad they really need to fix it. For business hours it says "Thuesday to Saturday: 10am to 8pm, Sunday: 11am to 8pm, Closed Monday"

and they have blitz the league 2 priced at 399.99

I went to Stargames when I was in San Francisco earlier this year. It wasn't too bad for what they had. The person working there was very friendly. The prices seemed to be a little high for me but overall it was a nice experience.

I just went to this store today. It was a pleasant experience and like venturousviking said the guy working there was pretty friendly. The prices were a bit high. A lot of games were 5-10 bucks more expensive than other places. I think that is acceptable since they are a small business. However, for retro games like nes and snes a lot were extremely overpriced. I saw random, not so good games prices at 20, 30, or even 40 dollars. Although, 80 percent of the nes games were priced at 10 bucks. So, you really need to know what prices games go for if you shop there. I saw great and shit nes games priced for 10 bucks.

They do offer great prices for retro games though when buying them back. They offer you 3 bucks a piece for loose retro game cartridges, unless they already have 3 or more copies of them.

So I traded in a stack of bad nes and n64 games I had and purchased the tengen version of pacman and kung fu for nes (10 bucks a piece but my store credit just about covered it).

Also, I must admit that I sold them superman 64 and they gave me $3 for it lol. The guy there was somewhat knowledgable about games, but man he actually gave me $3 for superman 64!

Also they wouldnt buy my copy of socom and madden 06 for ps2 because they were scratched. I had originally got them from hollywood video, so they were very badly scratched. That is a good sign that they have a little bit of quality control for disc games though. Since they are an independent games store in direct competition with the evil gamestop corporation, I donated those 2 games to them lol.

There's a couple of good places further south. Although some have gotten picked off recently. There's one a small train ride south called Planet Mix. Just don't try to sell them ANYTHING, they never pay more then a few bucks for everything they get

Stargames seems to be the only place in the city, the prices there can be good, I got a copy of earthbound for $25. Basically they told me they price the games by how good they are and how many copies they have in stock, not by ebay. I try to support these guys when I can as they are nice, and it is the only retro game store in the city.
