A while back I saw that they had CDX adapters listed. I emailed them about it and apparently they're just Model 2 AC adapters.

Well i finally got me an official CDX adapter. But i'm afraid it didn't fix anything. I guess it is my CDX. I paid $29 with shipping for that damn adapter. Not sure if i should keep the adapter or sell it and get my money back. I only use the CDX to play Sega Cd games anyway so i never use the cart side of it. It just bugs me when i can't get something to work.

I also could just get a Sega CD down the road and sell the CDX, but what is a CDX worth that has a problem such as mine? Or maybe i shouldn't spend anymore money on anything and keep what i got. lol

Hi there, not a big poster here, but post all the time in the repairs section on pcenginefx.com.

I can think of a couple possibilities:

    - Oxidation on the cart slot pins that isn't coming off with the standard cleaning.

    - The cart slot needs some of the solder joints re-flowed.

    - The mobo may have leaky capacitors or other damage.

#1 I've fixed before with Deoxit DN5 contact cleaner, and in the case of some very stubborn old genesis' I even used a very fine grit sandpaper.

The other two you probably want to send it off to an electronics repair type person to look into. If you don't have someone local that can do it, I'd be happy to. PM me for details.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I did clean the cartridge slot with Deoxit. But it didn't help. Unfortunately i am in a bad financial bind so i am trying to sell it on Ebay at the moment. It was a tough choice, but i guess i can live without it.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but you'll never get $150 for that.

$150 is way too high for a loose CDX that functions properly.

If you can't unload it, I'll buy the AD adapter from you.

That's cool dude. I was just testing the waters with the $150. I have seen people pay outrageous prices on things before. A friend of mine was telling me he seen ones with problems go for that much before so i thought it was worth a shot.

I already have an offer outside of Ebay i am considering at the moment. A more realistic offer. lol

I paid $29 shipped for the Adapter so i'm not sure what i would sell it for anyway. But if it doesn't sell i'll get back to you. But i can't promise anything.
