Good thing they're not adding PS2 compatibility back into the PS3, otherwise that would cut into this collection's sales...

I never picked up gow 1&2 for my PS2.Still this package deal for both games on one disc sounds good to me.Looks like i will get it for the PS3.Just so i can be ready, for when gow 3 hits next year.
Anything that could make a game speculator/flipper sad makes me happy. Bring on the Ico/SotC Collection! Both those releases could easily make it to a hits re-release, I'm guessing $20 rather than $30 too. Please Sony, make der butter greedlings weep!

Maybe, but not necessarily so. People who have the game for the PS2 and have a PS3 with BC may have still picked it up for the trophy support and the better graphics. Some people though may pass on it for that reason though, but who really knows how much it will hurt sales.
I have a sig?
I'm looking forward to this one, I loved GOW but never actually played GOW2.
Is there going to be any new game play, or just upscaled graphics?
According to the information several sites received from Sony today, the only new addition is trophies. The graphics and everything else about the games are identical to the PS2 versions with the exception of the fact that the graphics have been upscaled to 720p. My understanding is that they aren't actually doing anything to the graphics, just adding some code like that built into many DVD players to effectively line double the resolution. As such, there is really nothing here for those of us who already own both games.
Except if you have a BC PS3 or non BC PS3, you're still getting the superior version and both games will be available on the same disc. If your TV doesn't support 720p, you're not really out, because it'll be the same quality as before, without the need of using the other two copies. Also for collector's purposes even though it's guaranteed this will never be rare.
Please focus on exactly what I said. If you already own both games, i.e. you already have a way of playing them and presumably have already played both of them through, there's really no reason to pick them up again. I kinda doubt there's a large contingent of people out there who can't stand the fact that they have to actually put in a different disc for each game. It's not like you're playing them simultaneously or flipping between the two games or something. Frankly, 720P is not make much difference even if you have a nice HDTV. You're just gonna get a sharper view of the same relatively outdated graphics engine.
If you don't own them, however, I think this is a neat idea and a good way to introduce more people to the series.
I was gonna go play gow2 but I might as well wait to get this I can't wait full trophy support sounds like a blast.
Even though I have the games, I will definitely pick this up.
720p GoW...*drools*

Hopefully they'll correct the tearing, which was pretty much the only graphical flaw in the originals. Been holding out on a ps3, but with the recent slim/price drop and GOW3 on the horizon, I think I'll bite.
Sony just sweetened the deal by adding the E3 God of War 3 playable demo as part of this collection.
