    Default Good 1-on-1 FPS game?

There are no shortage of good multiplayer FPSs, but few if any are focused on two-player combat.
I'm looking for some first-person shooters, or third-person shooters with FPS-style controls, that are really fun to play in two player versus mode, either networked or split-screen.
I'm thinking specifically of deathmatch, as opposed to CTF or other objectives, and I would prefer something with smallish maps.
Ideally, I'd like to find something that's like a cross between Virtual-On and a traditional FPS.

Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

A while ago me and a friend use to have a blast playing Red Faction on the PS2. Now that I think about it, I need to pick that game up again.

You might want to check out The Club. I think that game would be right up your alley. I've seen it as low as $9.99, brand new.

Here's a vid of some 4 player split screen action: HERE

For sale at Amazon.com ($14.99): HERE

For any type of multiplayer FPS that isn't squad-based, the answer is always Timesplitters 2. Hours of ridiculous 1v1 matches were had in the glory days.

The Club is good even in Windows (though people complain about floaty aiming, never bothered me although it certainly is there), EXCEPT that nobody is playing it multiplayer. If anybody wants to though, by all means drop me a line

This. Timesplitters 2 is one of the best Console FPSs ever.

Halo can be somewhat fun with 1 vs 1. Same with call of duty. Is there a way to do like a 2 vs 2 on army of two with 1 pc player on each side?
    Autobots. Roll out.
