    Default NES frontloader revision?

When I opened up my new frontloader to clean, I noticed something. The controller ports are molded around the outside of the sockets, so that you cannot remove the ports from the socket without de-soldering the wire. On my other NES, the controller ports hang loose inside the system when I open it up, independent from the socket.

Sorry for the confusing description. I'm just curious if anyone knows anything about this, and if there are any other differences.

<EDIT> I can take pics of the first one when I get back to my apartment. As for the 2nd, maybe over the weekend.

So, are you saying that the controller ports are molded in the bottom shell??

I've seen NESes up to revision 7 or so but I haven't seen anything like that.

    I'd also like pictures, please.

Well, not molded perse... just that the plastic is placed on the other side of the socket from the wires themselves.

See how the controller ports protrude from the console? On my other NES, when the system is open, the controller ports hang loose on the inside.

ummm...every NES is like that, isn't it? I think that your other NES is the weird one.

When I open any NES I have to unplug the controller ports from the sockets on the PCB to remove them. You said that you needed to de-solder them. So, are the controller ports permanently wired to the PCB?? That would be a first too.

No, I just meant that I need to remove the cables somehow if I wanted to remove the ports. I (falsely) assumed they were soldered.

My other NES is at my parents' house. I'll get a pic over the weekend.
