Default Odyssey 2 will not stay powered on

I have an Odyssey that will not stay powered on unless you are applying force to the AC adapter directly into the system.

I am currently taking this thing apart (it is nuts, the whole "lets use solder in place of screws approach").

Any advice, or links to taking this thing apart deeper than the video cable would be great. Thanks!!!

I'd look carefully over both the console side and the ac adapter side of the power supply where they meet. Sounds like something is either slightly bent, loose, or very dirty/corroded.

The 02 definitely requires the use of a "higher" watt soldering iron like a 40w, etc if you want to take apart the couple of soldered spots. A smaller 15-25w just won't cut it.

If you have any specific questions let me know. I work on these from time to time so I might be able to help

In the past, the power cord has probably been wiggled so much that some soldering has come loose. When you open it up, try resoldering any connections around where the power adapter comes into the system.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will be preparing for surgery and let you know how it goes. Man I cannot believe they soldered that metal shielding around the whole deal.
