Don't fight Katakana and try to figure out what it is in English/Spanish/whatever. It's just "foreign". Though, not always (but usually).

The name is just exactly how it's written, nothing more or less.

I wonder how long it would take me to get screenshots of every menu in Langrisser II...

Can you translate this one? I can read katakana and hiragana, but I never learned kanji.

    OK, on the left:

    Idou いどう (movement)
    Kougeki こうげき (attack)
    Mahou まほう (magic)
    Chiryou ちりょう (heal)
    Shirei しれい (order)

And your character is an infantryman (hohei ほへい)

I've found that katakana works extremely well for understanding the majority of Japanese import games menu screens. Most are repeated anyway and the newer words can usually be easily sounded out. Seldom have I got stuck in menu's after memorizing the entire katakana alphabet. Of course, I still come across words that I can't decipher but those are few and far in between.

Here is one I would like to throw into the mix. I finally had time to kook up my Turbo Duo and take a few pictures. There are some sub menus as well but I will just post them one at a time instead of flooding this with requests.

Through trial and error I basically know what each option does but it would still be nice to know what they actually say.

If a god is willing to prevent evil, but not able, then he is not omnipotent. If he is able, but not willing, then he must be malevolent. If he is both willing and able, then why is there evil? If he is neither able or willing then why call him a god?

I've done pretty well translating the kana in this game, but the lines on the bottom left stump me. The last characters in the last two don't seem to be hiragana??

    Magnetite

Hotama (Something Ball?? Ho ball??) - I think be game-specific language.

    Makka (Deep Red)

The last character in the middle one is kanji, as for the last one, the character all on its own after か(ka) is a mystery! It must be game specific again.

    Time to bump this:

Just curious what the options represent and what they mean. I'm guessing easy/normal/hard?

Maybe it's the OCD in me but I feel the impulse to guess the names of some of these games. Currently not set up for screen shots otherwise I'd accidently flood this thread.

I don't know about the other one, but, yeah, the character after makka isn't kanji. That screen shot is from the first Megami Tensei on Famicom, and the currency of that series is called makka. That symbol following the word is simply their own made up currency sign for makka, like the $ sign.
