Default Nintendo Campus Challenge 1991 NES

I decided to sell my Nintendo Campus Challenge cartridge on ebay. It is the only 1991 Campus Challenge cartridge known to exist.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=370266968824

There is no reserve and the bidding starts at $0.99. A few people on nintendoage already expressed interest at $15K so it will be interesting to see where it ends up.

    Good luck

Just saw the thread and the bidding's already gone way beyond any possible hope of me being able to pay for that sorta thing.

I'm surprised this isn't on gamesniped yet, as that would be good publicity for both the sale and your website. Have you contacted them at all?

I've seen that buyer before...the user ID, even when blocked, seems familiar.

    pooch won it.

You can't tell userids from scrambled letters, those are random letters.

    Actually, you can!

Of course, it depends if you already know the person. I know when forums members at SMSTributes win just by their ID and feedback numbers. For instance, I knew when Policenaut (hey Nelson ) wins items, or when others I know win.

Of course, this does not apply to everyone, as I need to make a connection to those I know and those who win.

And I know I've seen that person...with those same letters and feedback count. I could start investigating, but what for...I'll leave that when I am dead bored

Actually, megasdkirby manages to tell if I won an item or if I am bidding on something even if I didn't tell him previously about any auctions.

Cool auction, nice payment...I wish I had a few of those to pay for my grad school.

Yeah I was always under the impression that the random letters stayed the same for one's id, so that if one knew who had what letters, it could be worked out to determine who won...not that I personally have time for such things.

The letters change randomly. The only thing that would allow you to know is the feedback rating, so again, No, you can not tell just by the name because the letters can be i****K and the name can be BOZOTHECLOWN or something. Then it can change when they bid on other stuff to y****J.

Dunno if it changed recently, but from what I've seen in the past, the letters used are part of the letters from the user ID itself.

So if example, John Doe would bid on an item (his ID being johndoe), every time I would pin point him, he would appear as "e****o" or something similar to that. The letters that appear were in the ID itself.

Now let's say John Doe has 1,355 feedback rating, meaning it would appear as "e****o (1,355 STAR)". So whenever I see "e****o (1,355 STAR)", I already know it's John Doe.

However, I find out because I've seen the person in the past. I know who John Doe is because I've seen him bid before. So whenever I see "e****o (1,355 STAR)", I know it's him. And my assertion is correct when feedback is left, because I can make an association with John Doe and his ID, "e****o (1,355 STAR)".

This was before. I don't know if it's the same now.

I know you will think I am lying or wrong, and I would like to see this for myself, as a little experiment. Then I will post the outcome here on DP in a new thread.

Also gives me something to do when I am bored.

Kirby is right; the letters taken to use for the first and last that you see are randomly selected from the username, but they are ALWAYS the same letters when you see the user bidding on items. So if I saw someone bid with w****a on an auction, then if I see the same obfuscated username bidding on a similar type of item, then it's 99.9% certain it's the same person.

Take QoF for example. When I go to see what she's bid on, her bids are always listed with the same two letters at the start and end. So you can still track bidders.

Actually there's an easier way to find out who won. Just search by bidder with completed auctions ON and list if not winner ON against someone you knew who bid on the auction, and the full username of the winner is displayed unless the auction was private.

Or for an even easier way you could wait until they leave feedback. Unless the seller has their's set to private(or the person just doesn't leave it) you can still see all the feedback comments left. It might take a few days or weeks, but eventually you'll have your answer.

One could also verify if the seller left the buyer feedback. Then one can associate the ID.

lol, when did this thread become eBay stalking 101?

Jokes aside I do kind of miss the old days when IDs were displayed to all. It was fun to either win or lose to a familiar ID even if you knew nothing about the person, especially if it was from the same seller and you were both just bidding on a bunch of similar items for a better shipping price. Then there were the occasional and charmingly comical death threats after you just sniped some guy out of the win. Ah, simpler times.. Yes, simpler times... Wistful me, rambling again about the days of old!
