Default Need Opinions On Some Wii Games

    Hi All!

Rogers Video is currently having a 50% off sale on their clearance games, so I decided to check out what they had. I saw the following Wii games in the clearance bin (Note - The prices listed beside the game titles are the cost after the 50% discount):

    Klonoa for $17.99

Sonic & the Black Knight for $18 or $19 (I can't remember the exact price.)

Nights: Journey of Dreams for $9.99

Now, I know Klonoa is worth getting, but what about the other two games? The reviews seem to be mixed for both SatBK & NJoD.

I don't own a Wii yet, but I might consider buying these games in advance if there worth the asking prices. The Rogers Video employees are holding the games for me until Friday, so I need some advice before then.

Klonoa was clearanced for $10 at Wal-Mart locally. Sonic's still $40, and nobody's buying it. Nights may be worth the $10, though.

    Thanks for the advice Kitsune!

I'll try checking my local Wal-Mart for Klonoa, but I suspect it may be a YMMV price drop. The only reason I'm considering picking this one up now is:

    A) Because I'd like to have it as a backup in case my modded PS1 craps out on me. (I own the Japanese version of Klonoa for PS1.) Sure, I can try finding another modded PS1, but there's no guarantee that the replacement will last very long. I wouldn't be able to use an emulator either, because there aren't any decent PS1 emulators for Mac OSX.

    B) It would be fun to compare the two versions.

    C) It's cheap!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the print run was for Klonoa? Was it bigger than the PS1 version?

As for Sonic, I wouldn't want to buy at full price, but I am still wondering whether it worth the $20 Rogers is selling it for.

Also, I could of sworn I saw Nights for $10 somewhere else in town. If I can figure out where that was, then I'll probably pass on it at Rogers.

Print runs are generally trade secrets unless the beans are spilt on an individual basis. The general school of thought, assuming no store exclusivity (advertised or assumed):

1- Only online/not even in Gamestop: Typically small
    2- In Gamestop only: Medium
3- Big box stores (Walmart, Best Buy, etc): Large

Only #1 is worth noting. Anything more than that these days is common enough to never be a rare game. Keep in mind, the game can be popular in a #2 situation and the copies will be hard to come by.

To answer your question, probably the same as the Wii version. If you found it in Walmart, it's possible that it is a larger run than the PSX version.

Now where would games like Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney and Fire Emblem: Raidant Dawn fit in? They were retail releases but they seem to be unreasonably scarce to find in stores.

A lot has to do with people holding onto their copies. Which is why The Dog Whisperer DS is common, yet the titles you mentioned don't pop up often. As an example, I can't find a copy of Ico to save my life.

All of the Ace Attorney games have had second print runs, haven't they? I know the original was difficult to come buy until about 2 years after its initial release. I see them all the time by me, including Apollo Justice.

Nights was clearanced for $10 at many places, Best Buy and Kmart among them.
