If a buyer wants to pay on paypal as a "Gift" is there any possible problems for me the seller? Scam , get the money back?

"Gift" is actually a way to circumvent Paypal's fees, and highly useful when dealing with trusted friends. I wouldn't use it for eBay payments or from people you don't know though, the address isn't sent with the email confirmation you recieve, so you won't know if the address the buyer provides is their registered one (you must send to the registered address to be protected under Paypal's rules).
The gift option is excellent if it's someone you know or someone you trust.
However, if it's simply a transaction or any sort of business, I would choose to pay normally (not as a gift).

I sent $57 to a guy on here requesting the gift option - that was on 10/1, still no box just a few lame excuses. Don't do it unless you know/trust the person.
That's what I've been thinking. Everyone these days wants you to send payment via Paypal Gift. As a buyer, if the seller doesn't ship the item, you're screwed?
I know there was someone else on these forums about a month or so ago that said his friend got screwed out of nice SNES package deal by using the PP Gift option.

I haven't yet, still giving him the benefit of the doubt (his sell thread is also dead and I put a post about not receiving my goods in case someone else sees it and wants to contact him) because he does have great feedback on 3 other sites and he does always reply to my emails about where is the package quickly (family issues, shipping soon, blah). His name on here is JunoBug.
When we finally figured out the final price, he sent me a message after 90 minutes seeing if I was still around and interested in the games. Just funny that he was so set on receiving a prompt payment, but obviously doesn't feel the need to ship quickly (or at all?).
He did however offer a non-gift option where I paid a few extra bucks, but I've never had a problem from people from this forum so I didn't think twice about it. If I hadn't done the gift option, I'd probably still wait a week or so before I file a complaint with paypal, so whatever we'll see.
I'm working on collecting money from a few stores who each owe my company over $500, so in that regard $57 isn't a big deal - still annoying, plus I actually want the games.

gift option or not. you can get screwed either way.
I paid someone $30 on another forum, via paypal.
nothing came, I filed a claim, I called paypal, nothing. they cant do anything to him except ask him if he can refund you your money, if he had sold is VIA ebay, thats a different story, I would have been refunded..
You dont need a Credit card for paypal to back you up apparently...
, if your on ebay and make a sale via ebay/payal, then your backed.
So to stay in the clear, I try and run everything threw ebay. Or I will only sell.
No credit cards for gift. Only bank transfers and paypal balance.
Use only with people you trust.
