Default Xbox live question (using 360 account on old xbox)

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me is it possible to somehow take my existing gold account that I'm using on my 360 and use that on an original xbox?It seems weird that I'd have to sign up for a whole new account.I tried account recovery on the original and it said it needed a credit card.I wanted to download updates and play some pro fishing challenge on live.

BTW the old xbox is one I got used from gamestop and Ive never had a live account on it before.

    Thanks!

It should be possible to use it on both but who knows now, I originally used my Gamertag on both my xbox and xbox 360 but it has been a couple years since i used live on the original xbox, best you can do is call microsoft or even maybe ask on xbox.com.

Unless things have changed since early in the 360's life, what you're asking to do isn't possible.

You can migrate an account created on the original Xbox to a Xbox 360 and utilize it on both consoles (Although not simultaneously), but you can't take a account created for the Xbox 360 and utilize it on an original Xbox.

That was the policy a year into the 360's lifespan and I highly doubt anything has changed since then. I imagine there's a technical reason behind it since it doesn't seem like it should matter.

Leo is right! You would have to use an existing Xbox account & migrate it to the 360. It can`t be done vice versa.
