Basic requires typing because it is a program. If you want to do some amount of typing, you can make games using Basic. Whether they are fun or not would be a personal preference though.

A lot of games use the space bar to pause.

There are a few games that don't involve typing but do use the keyboard (Defender uses the spacebar for smartbombs, Miner 2049er for the elevators, Micro League Baseball to make your choices).
