So now I do NOT have work tomorrow. I'll be refreshing the Wii Shop over and over around midday tomorrow and streaming it on my Ustream channel, if anyone wants to watch. That is, assuming I can get the audio commentary working...
I really wish they would launch these things at midnight because, seriously, what's stopping them?
I've got the stream up, simulcasting on USTREAM and LiveStream.
And LiveStream isn't working... Back to USTREAM in higher quality, I guess...
Backloggery Live will also be streaming it tonight, after they finish a race.
Heheh, thanks for the stream! Currently watching you deal with those damn trucks. Nice music so far... Might just buy it on the Wii so I don't have to wait a month for the 360 version... screw the 200 potential gamerscore points!
This one has nice and evil stage design, I like, I like. Shame I only got to one boss master, and he pretty much destroyed me.
I'm watching your stream right now. The game looks really fun, and you seem pretty good at it already. I have to beat MM9 before I buy this one though, but I'm sure I'll buy it sooner or later.
Blade Man moves and attacks faster. Sheep man is like Galaxy man, he keeps floating around but he's easy to hit when he lands.
Those of you who watched know that I finished the game on normal with Mega Man, and then easy with Protoman. Overall, this one's a lot more ENJOYABLE than 9 was. It's still really challenging, but it's not the brick wall that 9 was at points. I can't beat 9 without full E-Tanks and all, but I didn't even use my M-Tank on 10. There's even an E-Tank and an M-Tank near the final Wily, so I think this one was meant to be finished.
I kept noticing how good the level design is here. In 9, there were so many spots where you can see that there's ONE way through, and it's always the HARD way. Here, the challenging sections feel more thought out, and you don't have to perform exact button sequences to get through. If you have the dexterity and reaction speed, you can find your way through. THAT'S good level design.
Music is mostly really good. I noticed quite a few remixes, like the Mega Man 3 title as Protoman's shop theme. They redid the Mega Man 8 home theme and used that as Mega Man's shop theme. Stage themes are mostly great, a few sounded iffy to me. I didn't care for Strike Man's them, but it kinds fits the stage. Pump Man's theme uses some neat effects that sound more like the FDS synth, and that same FM/C64 quality shows up again in one of the Wily stages.
Overall, it feels like a better game than 9. The plot is sillier, but it brings a few new questions at the end. Hopefully they'll build on that in 11 instead of just put out another standalone sequel.
Still, one thing bothers me... Where's Cossack during all of this?
Yay I have the 4th best time in Blade Man's stage, last time I checked, my nick name is Woody lol. I wonder how long it will last.
What's up with islands? Get more land.
What's up with deserts? Get less sand.
I just hooked my Wii back to my LCD (had it on my retrogaming CRT), and MM10 looks awful when the Wii is configured for 16:9. Be sure to set your console to 4:3 and your TV to the same if you have an LCD. Like 9, it outputs in 480i only, so that should give you the best picture and more hard-edged pixels.
It is a really good game. But, all in all, it's inferior to Mega Man 9. Granted, since MM9 is one of the best in the series that's going to be hard to beat but 10 feels...lesser...in a few ways.
