    edit:

so - on LCD/Plasma - works just fine, but I can't get any signal (AT ALL) on the console screen ... if someone has encountered the same problem and found a way to fix it pls advise me. I don't want to buy another pice of hardware and to encounter the same problem over and over again.

You can't return it as being defective? How long is the warranty on these things anyway? You know, the box and instructions don't have a warranty listed on it. I never realized that until now.

I think there's a broken cable on your FC16 Go. The screen uses a Composite video signal, so it could be that the cable that connects the screen to the Super NES board is snapped at its solder spot on the screen. The cable could have either snapped on this board: http://jonjandran.com/pics/jonjandran/fc163.JPG(here's a closeup of the area in question: http://jonjandran.com/pics/jonjandran/fc167.JPG)

Or it snapped on the screen itself: http://jonjandran.com/pics/jonjandran/fc1620.JPG

Or the ribbon cable is either improperly connected, torn, or not connected at all.

I don't think there's any warranty on clone consoles(at least, not on Yobo's consoles, to my knowledge). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I will try to go with the bugger to a specialist in Romania, the shipping to USA for a refund is out of the question (the cost are too high)

My ideea was to order another one - but I am kinda afraid now to risk the money again.

I already opened the console and the cable on the board seems to be OK - I will try to open the other side (on the screen side to verify there)

Thanks ACE for your kind answer.

So it costs more to make a standard Nintendo style d-pad? Then why aren't the controllers also Sony styled?

Kind of weird to cut costs so selectively for only 1/3 of the product.
Could you please answer him, tofu? Your statement doesn't make any sense when there are two gamepads packed in that do have a Nintendo style d-pad.

So I don't understand the explanation that it would raise the cost of the unit if two controllers included with it do have a Nintendo styled-pad. And if it does raise the production cost, why is it the handheld getting the shaft rather than the two gamepads? After all, this is a handheld first and foremost and should get priority over the bundled accessories.

The handheld is a new molding while the two controllers are pre-existing.

Correction: Apparently the handheld and controllers are all pre-existing moldings. So any changes would have incurred additional cost. Might explain why there's only one speaker.

Thanks for the quick response. Makes sense, I hadn't considered that as a possibility.

I did the same thing, and experienced the same problem with my R button. Turns out, on putting the case back together, the ribbon cable got pinched and partially severed. It was a bit delicate, but I managed to strip off some of the plastic so I could twine the two ends of the severed wire, and that did the trick.

I think a lot of the problem with the D-pad's lack of response has to do with the amount of travel. It does not fit very snug in the shell at all. If it slides a bit too low, it won't register the Up press very well, and I have to nudge the pad back up into place to get it back to normal.

I tried the cross-shaped plastic mod, which gives the D-pad the appearance, if not the function of a traditional D-pad. It does feel much better, but this configuration seems to encourage the D-pad to travel more. You still end up having to press on the outer edges in order to get a good response, but actually getting your thumb from one end to the other at least feels easier since it's sliding on a smooth flat surface.

In all honesty I don't think the system is really getting the shaft. It's not a bad attempt at a first-run SNES handheld. But yeah, cost is always an issue because the manufacturers have to keep the ultimate price after production to introduce it into the market otherwise if it's too high then nobody outside of the core market will want to spend the $$$$$ on it! Because you can then really just buy the original thing.

Thankfully some of our new sponsors are offering the following classic remakes at some sick discount prices for a limited time. They also have some real nice up close product shots to see some of the finer detail. They are below:

If anybody has Super Star Wars - please tell me that it works (after the first level) - I don't know if my copy of the game is broken or the game just freazes after the score board of the first level.

later edit: i tested the game on the SNES console - and it works ... it seems that is the first incompatibility ?(also star wars empire strikes back does funny things - when press fire you actualy switch between lightsword and gun and shoot in the same time ... it's dazzeling)

Is there any prospect of making future handhelds like this with a screen that is a bit bigger? My eyes are getting bad fast and I find these small screens hard to play on.

    Unfortunately,

1)Cannot use "checkout" in either Paypal or regular, because:

a)Paypal: The message "PAYPAL : Restricted account Account is restricted" appears.

b)Message "401 Authorization Required" appears when using regular checkout.

2)Notice PR is considered, yet once again, international, when it isn't. Sigh...

Out of the 60 SNES games that I have, I have problems with the following,
Super Star Wars- freezes at the end of the first stage while adding up my points.
Kirby Super Star- will not boot.
Buster Busts Loose- There is a little graphical problem in the bottom half of the title screen. The rest of the game seems fine, so far.
DKC 2- Has problems, some graphical, playing the game, some are hard to explain.
Mario Paint- boots but no control.
And of course these light gun games, Battleclash and X-Zone.

Thanks for the answer - maybe is best to create a list with working / not working / trouble games - if you already tested 60 games pls post a list with them to help others:

    I've tryed

Metal Warriors - works (first 2 levels at least)
Super Rtype - works (first level at least)
Megaman X - works (first level at least)
Final Fantasy III - works (I've played like an hour .. but still playing)
Final Fantasy II - works (I've played like 10 min - I will resume playing)
    Wings 2 - Aces high - works (first look - it's OK)
    F-zero - works (seems OK)
Street Racer - works (seems ok)
Daffy Duck The Marvin Missions - works (seems ok - i've passed the first level)
Mortal Kombat 3 - works (seems ok)

Super Star Wars - doesn't work - only the first level (after scores - it freezes)
Super Empire Strikes Back - doesn't work - the controls are messed up

I will continue testing games - if you have the console and you can test various games pls help adding to the list.

    I am adding games monthly.

Default New FC16 Scheduled - DasCheap New Deal on Original Model

It seems once again the classic remade FC16Go will get a earlier than expected facelift!

As I had mentioned earlier that the system model version 2 was going to have some changes and I just recieved confirmation from my inside sources that it will be dropping real soon. So I will have a full on review for all when it's available first thing.

Also our sponsors are dropping some sweet deals on the orignal version FC 16 Go here: http://www.dascheap.com/fc16-go-supe...-portable.html
and check around for some other great retro specials as well.

So pick them up while they last cause I have been told they won't hang around for long at those prices. And in all honesty I would say that the system is def worth the price.

Got a system coming here soon and it looks it will be the revision. It will be interesting. Sad thing is I wont really have anything to compare it to.
