Interesting. I ought to play my Mickey Mania cartridge again and see what I think about the hit detection.

I must've seen the word Bomberman out of the corner of my eye when looking at the Battle Cross screen. Visually, it reminds me at least superficially of Atari's Bad Lands from 1989 (but much prettier).

And agreed completely on Dracula II. I probably would find myself enjoying it more on playing it now that I'm not completely terrible at platformers like I used to be - not abusing savestates might help. The game gives odd (but not unenjoyable) feelings of uneasiness and exploration, at least on the early plays. It's rather sprawling and unpolished at points though. We had debates back in the day about whether there was meant to be more to the game from somebody's findings about apparently hidden stairways and the like. Certainly an interesting game, but it doesn't live up to the expectations it creates.

Also, a low point for Konami's cover art. The illustration is not (as Wiki would have you believe) an "homage" to Ravensloft but seems more like a straightforward ripoff. Still, I'm sure the artists were working under tight deadlines.

Yeah, Dracula II is as difficult and hard to play as I remember it was...
What you say about Ravenloft is really interesting indeed ! I didn't know about it and you're totally right, the background is definitively a straight rip-off. Awesome ! I read somewhere that all the original early Castlevania artwork was destroyed in the 1995 Kobe earthquake - I wonder if this is true and how much was actually lost...

I'm pretty sure Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa is available on the Virtual Console for 600 Wii Points, so I hope you don't pay too much.

Virtual console??? You're paying for a ROM. Get the real thing if you can, if it's way too much or impossible to get, then go for the Wii Virtual Copy, I mean Console.

Totally agree with ya on Battle Cross. I rated it an 8.5/10 myself. I liken it to a "Super Mario Kart slash Super Bomberman" hybrid. Man, if only my gaming group knew about BC back in '94, I bet it would have given NBA Jam and Super Bomberman a run for its money, and that's saying a lot since our group lived off those games religiously back in '93 and '94!

No kidding mate !!! I also wished my friends and I knew about this game back in then days ! It would have been a blast to play BC during our Bomberman and Mario Kart intense gaming sessions !!! Oh well...
I wish they'd still make more wacky games like BC these days... I know the Wii has tons of party games but I sometimes feel that the "controller frenzy" has taken over the "simple but smart" gameplay.
