Default Can a incorrectly replaced Sega Saturn battery really cause explosions?

It says there is a danger of explosion on the back of my Saturn.

    Acid leakage most likely.

    Call in the Mythbusters!

...no, it can't cause an explosion.

They used the term "explosion" when "bursting" would have been better suited. If you REALLY want an explosion out of those tiny button batteries, gather up many and light them on fire. It would require quite a bit to even amount to an explosion, provided they're even powerful enough to give off such a reaction.

    Anyway, you'll be fine.
    In Heaven, everything is fine.

I thought it was fishy, but I think its funny that they say Danger of Explosion on the back where the battery is,
What's up with islands? Get more land.

Batteries can explode, but the little coin battery in the back of a Saturn? . It's not like a laptop battery.

Edit: Something like this happening is more likely, IMO.

Yes, if, for example, you incorrectly replace it with a blasting cap, or a stick of dynamite.

    hahahahahaaaaaa i made a funny

the worst that can happen is the battery leaks. but you'd have to be really dumb to mess it up to be honest. Its sooo simple/safe. If you can read, and use your fingers, youre set.

You must have got the special Michael Bay Saturn. Hence the explosions.

    Yes it can.

The topic posts shows that, actually, in the US, the word explosion is hollywood biased.

That's actually a picture of my last house exploding as I had a chain reaction of my 6 Saturns taking off from one bad battery!

    From dictionary.com:
    #
A release of mechanical, chemical, or nuclear energy in a sudden and often violent manner with the generation of high temperature and usually with the release of gases.

    #
A violent bursting as a result of internal pressure.

It could be considered either by definition, but explosion typically indicates something more violent than battery failure. Technically, popping a balloon is causing an explosion.

This warning is on other consoles as well. It's basically on anything that uses batteries.

What ever you do, do not combine pop rocks with soda, it'll cause the same explosion.
