Default Price of brand new Official Microsoft Xbox Controller?

Just wondering how much I should expect to pay for a brand new (hopefully still sealed) Official Microsoft S-type Xbox Controller (the second kind, for the first Xbox), NOT a 3rd-party one. I very foolishly passed one up about 3 years ago on clearance for $17. Argh.

Recently, I dropped mine on the floor (a hard, pseudo-wood floor, hard to describe). It still seems to work perfectly, but I wonder if its lifespan has been shortened. I'd really like to get another one, but the few that I've found are like $55-70. All the cheaper ones seem to be knock-offs from Hong Kong.

Is $55 really the best deal I'm going to find? Yikes.

You could probably easily find a mint condition used one for 5 bucks...

Well, I'm thinking long-term, so I want to go for maximum lifespan. With a used one, you can never be sure how much abuse it received from its previous owner.

I see, you could easily get 4-6 used ones though for the price of a new one though, which Im sure would last longer than 1 new one.

I'm sure you may already have used it, or know about it, but (just in case) the Logitech wireless unit is really great and well built. I don't use the official S controller, any more. It's almost like an unofficial official controller. It may also be cheaper than the S Controller.

Not at all. You just have to keep lookinng for good deals. I got two off of ebay last year(both factory sealed in a lot) for alittle more than $30. Then I did a trade with someone here on DP for a sealed black one. I traded a black Dreamcast so we basically set the value of each around $25-30.

So just keep checking ebay and also check the buying and selling thread here and at other sites(if you're a member somewhere else). They definitely aren't very common anymore and people will try to price them at $50 and up. But despite the fact that they regularly sold for that $50+ price a few years ago, the last two years they have dropped alittle in price. So although you may see them listed for $50+, not that many people are buying them for that price.

I have one of those Logitech Wireless controllers previously mentioned if you or anyone else are interested in buying. Send me a PM.
