Default Which FF III (VI) Guide is the best?

I know of 3. There's the one by Nintendo Power with Terra sitting on the Magitek armor. There's one with Mog in front of a castle. Then there's one with a giant sword on it. I usually try to stick to NP guides, if they made one for the game, but are the other 2 any good?

I hate to answer such a serious question this way, but rest assured, I'm being serious. The walkthru I used was on gamefaqs, and I'd imagine the ones on there are going to be more detailed and have more information in them than any of the published strategy guides. I could be wrong, as I've not read any of the published guides, but considering how many pages the gamefaqs ones are, and that they contain stuff like how to glitch the game and things of that nature, I'd think they'd be more in-depth.

I personally find most strat guides to be nice collectibles but not that great for actually telling you everything there is to know about a game. (Except for a few exceptions, like the Star Ocean 2 guide, the unofficial FF7 guide by Casey Lowe (?), as well as the Resident Evil 3 guide in the same series.)

I agree, I mainly use GameFAQs. The only thing thing the physical guides are good for are the maps. I just like to have the guides for my favorite games. I prefer the NP guide, when it's available, but the ones in good condition can go up pretty high on Ebay so I was wondering how the other 2 were.

The Mog one is full of errors, and not very helpful, it does have some decent artwork and pictures in it.

Everything you ever wanted to know about the guide with the sword on the cover (which I own, and drew random things all over it).

I remember borrowing FF3 and the "Forbidden" guide from a friend of mine in middle school. Well the game ended up getting stolen from me (as a result I gave him Super Mario RPG and Super Metroid and by gave I mean he kept them) and I ended up just keeping the guide as a result. I thought it was pretty decent at the time, but after getting some of the background story on it, I now understand why I'd always feel confused half the time I read the damn thing.

Your friend should have came to a compromise. Super Metroid is an amazing game and Super Mario RPG is a fairly good game. While FF6 is better your friend should have took one or the other as it was stolen from you, so an accident.

Or you could have just bought him another FF6.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

Considering I was 13 at the time and had no money, I figured since it was my responsibility to make sure the game was kept safe, I didn't bother arguing with him. I honestly don't know why I'm even defending my actions from 13 years ago, or why you even care to question them, but hey I was just a kid.

Wow, that's awesome! How's the rest of "Confessions of The Game Doctor" ?
