I used to play Cosmic Carnage quite a bit. If you can get past the sluggishness of it, you'll find the game has solid collision detection and controls, and a decent enough combo system. The awful character designs are somewhat fixed by playing in japanese mode.

DOAX is another quilty pleasure. I actually really enjoyed every part of this game, even though not one aspect felt complete. The volleyball was fast and responsive, but had no OB and could be a bit random at times. There weren't quite enough games at the casino, but what was there was implemented well. What bothered me most about the item collecting and customization was that most of the girls had no alternate hairstyles and there was no way to mix and match different tops and bottoms for the two-piece suits.

Is burger time considered a bad game? Because I love it, haha.

And yeah, as was mentioned above, E.T. is by no means the worst video game ever (I think I'd give that to Plumbers Don't Wear Ties). And it seems like they were trying to do a lot with it, but it just fails.

Personally, I really like games that most people aren't crazy about, or haven't even heard of, but are still fun.

In terms of that, the original Xbox has a lot of obscure gems, some of which aren't that good, but are still fun. Azurik comes to mind. The fighting system is kind of sketchy, but I still like it.

I've pretty much been hooked on Spider-man and X-Men Arcade's Revenge ever since I first played that, I'm not really sure why but I like this game a little too much. I mean the graphics are crap, it's eye gougingly difficult, it doesn't exactly make a lot of sense, even in a comic book world setting, but I can't stop playing it. And yeah, I did actually beat it... eventually... after having owned it for Genesis for about 5 years.

Batman Beyond (N64) - Completely due to the fact that it's my favorite show of all time and the reaction "Wow it's Batman Beyond on the N64". Hey, at least its playable/beatable.

Bassmasters 2000 (N64) - Ugly looking game but kind of amusing to catch a few fish.

Donald Duck Goin Quackers (N64) - Just wrapped up a review of this one actually. This would fall into the mediocre category.

that's all i can think of for now

im trying to truck my way through xenosaga 2 just so i can get to xenosaga 3, i hate being a completionist

also pushed my thru overblood on the psx even tho the game mechanics were sorta broken and i hated the 1st hour of it....but goddamn if im not grateful that i did, that game is severely underrated, venerable cult classic it is! tis truly!

im also kinda forcing my way thru the original xenogears, i honestly dont see even an inkling of what would qualify this game for greatest rpg of all time, im in the underground prison/village/sewers watever place....this game fucking sucks, when is it going to get good?!

I thought it wasn't BAD. It was just boring after 10 minutes. You beat it once and there ain't much replay value.

I love Hydlide. I own all of them, and have completed them all. The genesis port of 3 is one of my favorite genesis games!

hydlide is a charming, quirky, and fun series.
Lol it was actually a series? Didn't know that, of course I'm talking about the first one(NES), It's possible part 3 or whatnot was better then the first one.

    Agreed.

ET is not a bad game by any means. Just too complex for it's time.

Once given a chance and mastered (gameplay) it's actually a very fun and quick game.

I also really like Dam Busters on the Colecovision (Someone else mentioned it on the first page).

So that game has at least two fans.

    complex?

isnt the entirety of the game composed of just running forward and avoiding falling into a ditch?

i dont know if that exactly screams mind explosion, but then again, the 80's were completely different time

....oh and no, i've never played e.t. so please try not to come down on me too harshly if im wrong....more for your safety than mine.....CUZ I GOT KNIVES

You need to avoid the FBI man and falling into holes while collecting the various pieces to finish the game. Or something like that. I haven't played it in a few years, it was pretty much an overwhelmingly average game in my eyes.

You need to fall in the ditches to beat the game, since the phone pieces you need to collect are in them. The problem a lot of people complain about is being able to get back out of the holes. A lot of people also didn't know their objective so it seemed like you're just running around falling mostly empty holes.

you got an effin radar arrow tellin you where to go

and yeah the majority of complainers are people who popped it in expecting blatantly obvious gameplay like Asteroids.

I wasn't saying that to explain why the game is bad, only to explain why a lot of people THINK it's bad. It's a combination of word of mouth, confusion, and a refusal to read instructions. =P

I once beat Shadow of the Beast 2 for the MD. One of the most confusing and unforgiving games I've played and it must've taken at least 30 tries to get through. Lots of puzzles where you'll have to start over if you screw up, and the player character has no knockback or invincibility time after taking a hit at all. But I loved the atmosphere and art style in the game and the title theme is beautiful.
