Obscure choice here... Tron Maze-A-Tron on the Intellivision.

I love this game, but no one else I know can seem to figure it out.

I LOVE Amidar on VCS, a nutty game. Paintbrushes, monkeys, pigs...that's how video games should be.
The slow controls take a bit to get used to, but once you got the hang of it, Amidar is a very pleasurable game.

Mine has got to be Athena on the NES. I like some campy games, but this one is straight bad--still, I find myself returning to it time and time again.

Imagine the cheapest, most unfair boss fight you've ever been in. Add one hit instant fatalities.

I've just described almost every stage in Spawn for the Sega Dreamcast.

    It plays like this -

Spawn spawns at the spawn point. He immediately machine guns every wolf to death, but then a giant cybrog gorilla runs right through him, literally breaking him in half. He's still standing from the hips down.

    The screen turns red.

Spawn returns, and throws his chains at the giant cyborg gorilla, for minimal damage. The giant cyborg gorilla barely notices.

    The screen turns red.

    Spawn -

The giant cyborg gorilla uses fire!

    The screen turns red.

Spawn doesn't wait to see what the giant cyborg gorilla does next. Before it can break him in half, he's in the air, hitting the zombies with enough bullets to erase a small country, while keeping an eye out for giant robot gorillas. The guitars are shredding, the body count is soaring, and you look like a genuine badass, in a way so stupid and so shameless it redefines awesome...

    The screen turns red.

No matter what you do, where you go, you will die. Giant cyborg gorilla owns you.

    Until you win.

Because you've got infinite lives to his just one. The question in this game was never "Can I kill the boss?". it was "Can I kill the boss in time?"

The scary thing is how easily other people become addicted, but nobody who's become addicted has a single good thing to say about the game...

    It's our dirty little secret.

    Dam Busters isn't mediocre/bad....

its just very simulation. not so much action.

If you don't like simulation, you're going to be snoozing in no time.

I've been on another Mahjong run... and of course with Mahjong comes crappily drawn pictures of animated women in their skivvies.

I mean REALLY badly drawn. *shudder*

But mahjong's fun once you get how it works. Next up - Shogi.

EDIT: heh. figures I'm the 69th reply to this thread. awesome.

Abadox for the NES was always a favorite of mine. Something about the theme being going through this giant monster along with some creative bosses I always thought. Plus any game with an invincibility cheat is great for frustration relief. Maybe its not really a bad game more of a mediocre game.

Dynowarz is another one. Possibly one of the most repetitive boring games ever but for some reason I always loved it.

I have 4 copies of Street Fighter: The Movie (US Saturn/PS1, Japanese Saturn/PS1). It's actually not bad at all despite people saying how horrible it is. It's certainly leagues better than Street Fighter 1.

I wish they would have ported the arcade version too since the only way to play it is through MAME which is a little choppy. It's sooo much different from the Saturn/PS1 versions.

I'm actually in the middle of watching Street Fighter: The Movie on dvd.

I'm with you on ALL fronts. I love how bad the movie is, and how surprisingly solid the game is. I wouldn't say 'best SF evar' but definitely underrated.

I think he meant the arcade version of the original street fighter was ported to the TG-16, rather than Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game.

    I absolutely LOVE Abadox.

And I just recently got a copy of Dynowarz. Haven't gotten that far into it, but you can play as a dinosaur robot thing. What's not to love? haha
