The PS3 will roll with just about any USB controller you throw at it, so we should be in good shape there. Hopefully the 360 version will support the Ace Combat 6 stick.
"after burner climax coming"
Hell yeah. Now I have no reason to seek out older versions of After Burner.
Sega's been doing a good job with these PSN/XBLA remakes of their arcade classics. Outrun HD, while kind of short and essentially an incomplete hi-res port of Outrun 2 SP, was pretty good. Here's hoping for the same quality with AfterBurner!
Playing this at the arcade was amazing, if they can recreate at least 50% of it at home, it's a must buy.
Fuck Yeah!
there is a god
Did they ever fix the online play in Outrun HD? I remember the few times I tried playing a game on Live and they game would almost always glitch and crash when I got to the first fork. Guess it had something to do with going the opposite direction the race leader was going in.
Never had that problem and I played online for at least a dozen hours. I've seen complaints from others though that were encountering that issue. Outrun Online Arcade has recieved a patch since I last played it. Hopefully whatever those issues were have been resolved.
Sadly, probably doesn't even matter. When I got heavily into online play after finishing single player, the game was already a month or two old and down to just enough people to keep 1-2 servers populated. I doubt the past 6 or 7 months have been kind to it. Makes me wish I hadn't missed out on online Outrun 2 and Outrun 2006, I stuck with single player in those games thinking online wouldn't be any fun. Finally gave it a real shot with this XBLA game for a few achievements and really enjoyed myself with the online multiplayer.
Great news about AfterBurner Climax. I knew from rumors several weeks ago (Was rated by a Japanese ratings board or something like that) that this was likely in the works, but it's nice to get some sort of confirmation. This seemed pretty unlikely to happen when there wasn't any sign for several years that they'd bring this home.
Hopefully it gets a North American release, but even if it doesn't, at least importing a Japanese PSN points card will make purchasing it easy.

Too bad it's "download-exclusive". I don't care if I have to pay a lot more, I want a psyical copy.
I sure hope it gets a North American release soon after the Japanese release, so that I can play it on my bro's 360!!! Have been waiting for this to get released since it was released in the arcades few years ago.
This is kind of random, but I have a funny story about playing this game in the Arcade.
I was in Paris this past July, and there was a pretty cool arcade there (these are still actually pretty thriving in Europe. Namco Station in London seemed to be doing pretty well also). They had cool stuff like Outrun 2, some digital pinball tables, and After Burner Climax. At that time I honestly didn't even know the game existed, but there it was.
The cabinet has a seatbelt because the seat tilts when you turn the plane, so you're strapped in there with your face pretty close to the screen. As such, I got pretty absorbed in the game (cool water effects! Looks like Xbox 1 gen graphics). Suddenly, while playing, I smelled some pretty awful B.O. I suppose I probably should have looked around, but I was fascinated with friggin' After Burner, so I just ignored it. Eventually I died and the game ended. I immediately looked to my left and there was this greasy little Haitian kid not 5 inches from me, leaning towards me with his hand going for my pocket.
I looked him straight in the eye and he ran off. He didn't get anything. When I met back with the girl I was with (who was upstairs at the arcade using their internet access) she told me that a kid of the same description asked her for money while I was down playing games.
Pay attention at the arcades, ya'll. They can be dangerous places, I guess. But I gotta hand it to Sega for making their game so absorbing I almost got robbed while playing it.
I played AB:Climax this past summer in Segaworld Chicago.
To use the word "awesome" doesn't do the feeling justice.
Between AB, the big screen bowling game, and just being able to let loose on the games like I was 11yrs old again was indescribable fun.
Possibility is infinity! You must be satisfied!

This is going to be tough on my eyes I think due to the extremely fast paced nature of the game. Glad it's coming out of the arcades and will be best suited for short burst of play.
Is the PSP Afterburner anything worth checking out?
Really upset this is downloadable only, as it looks great. Bummer. I don't give a damn about price savings. I'd rather pay $50 and have a copy I can hold than pay $20 for a virtual copy.
