found Earth Defense by Realtec for Genesis; price/rarity/dumpstatus?

I'm not even sure if I've got the right section here on the forums, but does anyone have any info on this?

A local shop has it and isn't sure what to sell it for. I said I'd be willing to help them find some kind of answer.

I was also curious what the dump status of the cart is... I own both a Super Magic Drive and Cyan's dumper that I built from his plans, so I have capability to dump it if necessary.

I poked around online for a little bit and recall some place saying the game does weird bank-switching, which made it difficult/impossible to dump... Thus far the only things I haven't been able to dump with my hardware was extraneous peripherals like the Sega Channel and game genie and stuff.

I like the review in that link- at least I know the game isnt GOOD so it can't exactly carry a price on its own merit lol :P and a 4 isnt really elusive. If it hasnt been dumped yet, I may pick it up myself just for laughs

Well they're actually a really cool shop, they do lots of old toys and action figures and memorabilia, not just old games... they're attached to an awesome comics shop too. They guy is usually down with all the stuff he sells, but he couldnt get much info on this game. Ive bought other stuff from him before, and Im also on the lookout for a couple specific hardware revisions of the Genesis- in the past, he has let me actually open the consoles there in the shop to see if it's the one I'm looking for. Most places would be sketched out about that kinda stuff, so I figure if he's helping me, maybe I can help him. *shrug*

... Neither they or you could find it? Odd, it's listed on Amazon (11 copies, prices ranging from $6.50 to $12 plus shipping for cart only or cart with case but no manual copies)

Also, the rom DOES exist. I have the rom. It works. Game doesn't seem too bad really, when you consider that it's an unlicensed Taiwanese game that actually somehow got an (unlicensed) US release... not a great game, particularly because of the lame bosses that take a million hits to kill and never change their pattern (and the "bomb" is just some invincibility), but not THAT awful.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I know the store you're talking about, and I go in there sometimes too... it is a pretty good store. I might want to get the game, actually. Might be entertaining to have the actual cart.

KB Toys sold this in their stores; I picked up a copy there. The manual is weird in that it's not bound like a regular one, but more like a folded up takeout menu.

I didn't think the game was particularly rare. The same company made the Funny World/Balloon Boy combo cartridge as well as the game Whac-A-Kritter (sic?), and they were easily obtainable on ebay by sellers that had dozens of copies up as Buy-It-Nows. For the latter game they also made a Sega Genesis controller, which allows you to smash buttons like you were playing Whack a Mole. I've never seen one of those controllers before....

Because I saw the cart in the store and asked them about it, and he said he'd get back to me on how much it's worth, then last time I was there he said he'd asked someone to look online for prices. By that point I'd looked up the Amazon and EBay stuff, and was surprised that they hadn't seen that or something... this sounded exactly like that, so it seemed like a decent guess, particularly after you described the store...
