Default More NES prototypes including unreleased sound editor

    Some scores from this afternoon:

Super early Color a Dinosaur prototype

    Overlord prototype

    Spy Hunter prototype

And the pick of the litter: Tommy T's "Play Me" sound editor.

A group photo for good measure!

The sound editor was created by famed video game composer Tommy Tallarico. He worked on Color a Dinosaur as well, so it makes sense that the two be found together. This was Tommy's first step from transitioning from a game tester to a game composer.

    Pretty cool stuff

I don't know much about prototypes or EEPROMs, but aren't the little windows on the chips supposed to be covered?

Yea, I have heard that when they're exposed to certain lights they erase... I'd look into it.

OHHHH NOOOOOOOOOEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!! What should I do!?!?!?!?!!!!1111

I always take pics of my prototypes just as they are when they arrive. Once I have taken a pic I cover the windows (if they're not already covered), and dump the rom with my CopyNES. I have 60+ NES prototypes and haven't had a problem yet. Thanks for the tip though.

For those wondering, the unreleased sound editor will be available for download within the night.

EEPROMs are very different from EPROMs (the chips on these boards are the latter). Like Matt said, we cover them up right after we snap a picture and dump them, so there is no danger of losing any data that wasn't on it's way out from sitting in a basement for 20 some odd years.

Don't have to mock me for showing concern, BeaglePuss. In this case I honestly didn't know. I was also querying for knowledge. I try not to mean harm in what I say.

As I said "I have heard"...

Gotta love the 50%+ lost translation of the internet, eh! *nudgenudge*

    Ok, I'm sorry I misunderstood.

I don't recall any differences between the prototype and the released version, although I haven't played it in some time. I typically only play a few minutes worth of a new prototype unless it's obviously different or of particular interest. Sorry I couldn't help more.
