    Default PS2 0nline question...

Ive been out of the PS2 "scene" for awhile now, (to busy playing my NES all the time, sad aint it??? ha), I have my PS2 hooked up to my cable modem and I used to play Tony Hawk 3 online all the time. Anywho, my question is, with all the new online games (SOCOM, etc.) Will they work with my method of hooking up to the internet (ethernet cable modem adaptor as described in the Tony Hawk 3 manual and website) or is the official Network Adaptor required?????? I really wanna play that SOCOM online, but dont wanna have to go out and buy the adaptor too. ANy help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!! =)

I think the Network Adapter is required; only games specifically programmed to use USB modems or other non-NA methods will work that way. Don't quote me on that though.

So far my PS2 online experience has been...eh...subpar. Madden is great and all, but not when every other player is a lamer that either quits when they realize they'll lose or run up the score when they're winning. Just can't get into Frequency either.

No network adapter is required yet. All the online games that are out at this time can use the TOny Hawk 3 Method.

Tony Hawk 3 came with a list of USB adapters and SOCOM and Madden both auto recognize the propper adapters. We have been playing at work with the USB adapters. A USB keyboard also works for chat. It is very cool. The only thing is that the USB adapter that we have (Somehting like 10/100 by linksys) is 10 dollars more than the PS2 adapter. The good side is you can find it out there. Try smaller electronic chains. Best Buy seems to be sold out because people are finding out that the USB ports still work.

Hope I didn't ramble too much.

As anyone else played any of the newer PS2 online games, with the "tony hawk 3 method" (without the official network adaptor).
Just curious.. going to rent SOCOM and Madden sometime here soon, hope they work! =)
